Thankfully I was at home, but I’m seething lol. They were my favourite pair of pants: high waisted, comfortable yet still framed my legs correctly,
Getting dressed as a man is difficult, everything is made for just one particular body shape. I have thicc thighs lmao, most pants feel too restrictive on me and if the waist is low (like 99% of all pants today) they just sag. And thanks but I don’t want to show my ass to everyone around.
Also, while we’re talking about this, crotch length is getting shorter and shorter it seems. Did anyone else notice this?
But the thing is I’ve had these pants since 2021, so barely over a year. You buy super expensive pants and they don’t last any longer than the cheaper ones. I’m wearing Semir jeans off aliexpress right now, which is apparently a huge brand in China but at a fifth of the price of Levi’s, and they lasted me longer (though I definitely haven’t worn them as much).
Except they’re low-waisted and a bit more constrictive than my amazing Levi’s. The kicker is the Levi’s are supposed to be 511s but are clearly not, so I have no idea how they made this pair and if I can ever find another like this.
I don’t even know if I can get it repaired.
Strange, Levi’s usually work well for me. I have bought a Levi’s sweater 7 or 8 years ago and it still looks brand new. The thing is unbreakable.
If possible, go check some second hand shops/thrift shops in your area. I always buy clothes from there and they usually have a shitload of second hand Levi’s pants. In my experience, they are always of good quality.
I, too, dislike low waisted trousers and lament at the quality of all clothes bought since about 2009. I still have well worn clothes from before that date, but almost everything bought since then lasts a year or two, maybe three at best. I’m not sure what changed, but something definitely did.
When I used to train properly and ate like a horse, I had a similar problem with the thighs. I’d buy the skinny / super skinny fit, but buy them 2-4" bigger at the waist and wear a belt. Seemed to solve the problem and nobody ever said they looked silly. They’d be the right level of looseness all the way down. Maybe an inch or two extra material down the whole length, but they still hug the leg, rather than flaring out (I don’t like them wide at the bottom).
As for the crotch length. I’ve noticed, too. And pockets are becoming so small as to be useless – during the era when mobile phones are getting bigger and bigger. I can’t even get my hand in some pockets, never mind a wallet or phone. In fact, it’s the first thing I check when I pick up any style of trousers: will I lose my keys because the pockets are too small? If the answer is yes, I don’t even bother trying them on.
Edit: thank you for setting up the opportunity to rant about trousers. I’m glad I’m not the only one noticing similar changes.
That’s an absolute nightmare situation 😔
I tend to get high-waisted mom jeans that are a size too big and roll the bottoms up so i have more room.
That or spray on skinny jeans but recently I’ve just decided to wear leggings and they are so comfy.
RIP
(I’m so sorry… I tried to resist)
Also take into consideration different brands have different clothes they sell at different retailers. So you can have an otherwise good brand being sold for much cheaper at Walmart but the actual make is also much cheaper. I believe Levis do this along with a good number of other clothing brands. I however have not bought jeans in a hot minute. I lost a bunch of weight a while back and so I had all these “Christmas” jeans I had never worn or only worn a few times cause of the fit. Not that I was super big but big enough. I then lost weight and am now at “peak jeans” where most of my old jeans fit loose to the point where they don’t look great out but are good around home pants, and all my old “too small” pants either are just right or some still a little loose. If I loose much more I’m going to have to get new pants though and as awesome as that is for a weight loss standpoint it’s also terrifying. Lol. So I’m glad you mentioned those ones you got that Semir brand. I’ll have to look into them.
I pretty much only wear jeans with a little stretch to them. I can’t get the regular ones to fit in a way that’s comfortable!
