Conservatives are rallying behind a plan that calls for a pair of staggered, short-term stopgap funding measures to put pressure on the Senate to pass its own spending bills.
My entire Command (and most of the rest of the DoD) are considered “excepted”, which means we’re still required to show up and work. The only silver lining is that the Government Employees Fair Treatment Act was passed in 2019, which guarantees that we will get back pay (and this still doesn’t help everyone living paycheck to paycheck). Before that, it was actually an open question if we’d even be paid for the work done during the shutdown.

The law already says DoD gets paid. That was put in place awhile back.
