This is the best summary I could come up with:

Concern about the captives — two of whom Israel said were found dead — along with the rising number of Palestinian civilian casualties have steadily increased pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.

After initial hesitation, the Biden administration, under its own domestic pressure between advocates of unstinting support for Israel’s war aims and concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, has fully backed a temporary pause in the fighting.

Beginning with President Biden’s trip to Tel Aviv a week after the war began, and followed by multiple visits from Secretary of State Antony Blinken and other senior officials, the administration has pushed hard with Netanyahu to understand that it is losing the narrative high ground as more Palestinians die.

Brett McGurk, the White House National Security Council’s top Middle East official, is on an extended trip to the region to try to solidify the hostage release plan, including meetings in Israel and Qatar.

McGurk told the conference that Hamas’s release of a “large number” of the hostages, believed to total 239, “would result in a significant pause in fighting and a massive surge of humanitarian relief.

Those remarks drew an angry response from Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, who interpreted them as signaling that a pause allowing humanitarian relief would come only after the hostages were released unconditionally by Hamas.

The original article contains 1,174 words, the summary contains 221 words. Saved 81%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

    That’s such wonderful news.

Of course Joe Biden won’t get a lick of credit for it from “progressives”, Hamas apologists and Israel bashers because he didn’t try to force an immediate ceasefire on Bibi. He knows how diplomacy works and got it done.

Hamas still needs to be obliterated.

I’ll credit him, provided this turns out to be what it says on the tin.

But hey, you’ll keep calling anyone to the left of Joe Manchin a hamas apologist.

Just because someone calls themselves progressive doesn’t make them one. Sometimes they are just trying to sell bad ideas, like you are now.

What Idea did I sell? That people who put quotes around a word to point out something is fake?

You’re the one selling the idea that Hamas is a bunch of tagged enemies in a video game quest that blares out “Mission success” when you kill enough people.

Hamas; like the Taliban, is an idea. Trying to put this flame out with indiscriminate violence is like fanning the coal in a kiln. Fanning with more intensity only going to strengthen the fire.

You and people who don’t get this are calling progressives fake. Whereas the reality is that Israel either doesn’t understand this, or they simply don’t care about collateral because Netanyahu just wants to empty the contents of his closet into the rubble created by the IDF in gaza when everyone is distracted. (I am holding out hope as apparently, bibi’s approval is down).

The only idea that any conservative of any religion is selling around the world right now is that Muslims are procreating faster than any other demographic and this is a cause for others to scrutinize and curtail this.

Be warned: Fear is one of the main things that causes men to commit atrocities.

Centrists found their equivalent of GWB apologists’ “terrorist sympathizer” and they’re gonna keep using it against progressives until it stops working.

FFS. Hamas are terrorist assholes who rape and murder in the most vile ways. They represent no one and especially no ideas.

You’re just projecting being decent on brainwashed youth who became terrorists. Hence you cannot find any thing resembling ideology in their behavior. Doesn’t mean there isn’t one.

They said the same thing about Nelson Mandela and the freedom fighters in South Africa.

Tell me did the Taliban go to America to take revenge on random civilians after the real terrorists got off their land? Or was the problem that they had an American terrorist drug cartel trying to take over their country?

So now you are going to compare terrorists to Nelson Mandela? Maybe you can point out when Mandela raped and murdered a granddaughter in front of her disabled grandmother. History isn’t your strong point. Stick with stupidity.

Haha my man Nelson was on the terror watchlist until 2008.

                  https://time.com/5338569/nelson-mandela-terror-list/

South Africa didn’t gain their freedom by striking in jail you sweet summer child. Nelson Mandela was in the South African version of what Hamas is right now.

Freedom fighters that use violence are all called terrorists for 80 years and then they’re suddenly heroes that fought for their rights and freedom.

Just wait until you discover racism in America wasn’t solved by Rosa Parks sitting on a bus either.

“progressives” be like “I love China, and Russia, hate the US and NATO, I support Hamas, and I never vote Democrat because ‘I won’t choose the lesser of two evils’” then call us ‘libs’ on Lemmy like it’s an insult because we like Biden. 🤷‍♂️

I mean, I put quotations around progressives because the small subset of online self proclaimed progressives in places like Hexbear and lemmygrad are like the above.

For me a real progressive is someone like Biden who just got an agreed 5 day ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, kept other nations from escalating, and has a record of passing progressive legislation, especially as president. Also, for me, a “progressive” is someone like Jill Stein who has lunch with Putin, supports the Ukraine invasion, and only runs to get Republicans elected.
