If you’re leaving #Reddit over API extortion like I am, here’s a way to burn your comment and post history so they can’t profit off what you’ve contributed.
I like Power Delete Suite because it lets you choose between just straight “deleting” your history, which is usually archived by scrubbers, or editing all your history to text that you can choose. I replaced most of my post history with “deez nuts” regardless of context lol

I don’t think so, you need to have the ability to login and edit comments manually, since that’s what PDS takes control of
let’s open a class action on behalf of banned reddit users to force them to delete all our posts/comments.

I’m waiting until the deadline to see if they reverse their decision, but if not then I’ll see about using this to edit everything I ever wrote over the last 9 years to protest their corporate greed and encourage others to do the same.
I just went ahead and started today, regardless. I read the CEO staying the NYT that they were looking to “sell access” to the “corpus of data” on Reddit. IE, stuff I commented and posted. Nuts to that. Not gonna make money off of me.
I’m tired of all this. I’ve said it many times before, I miss when the internet was mostly just making hobby sites for whatever they were interested in. Before it went corporate.
I hear ya. Those sites are still out there, just have to look harder for them. Heck I wouldn’t be surprised if there were still webrings for some places. Haha.
If you want a blast of nostalgia, there’s still some BBSs with web interfaces, and you can still browse Kermit and Gopher with telnet. :)
Fwiw, even if you do this and even if reddit turns out to not just have backups of it all, anything you’ve posted before 5/1/23 will be on pushshift
You can request Pushshift to delete your history.
