As a new father that only owns one console, the PS Portal has allowed me to squeeze in extra precious gaming time into my day.
I pull out my Portal when my wife is decompressing on our single 4K TV. Or when my son cuddles up next to me as he falls asleep in the evenings.
I love the ergonomics of the device, the haptics, the huge screen, and the seamless integration into the Playstation ecosystem (and all of my games). My PS5 is hardwired into our router so I’ve had absolutely no issues with remote play inside our apartment. In fact, I’ve been using this thing daily and having an absolute blast.
Alas, I have made the incredibly difficult decision to return the device. The daily threads questioning the value proposition of this handheld have been weighing on me. The internet insists that the Portal is actually not very good after all and I shouldn’t be having any fun with it.
I honestly had no idea and will be shipping it back out to Sony while I’m still within the return window.
I assume that this is sarcasm. However, on the chance that it’s not, why would you let internet strangers determine what you think is fun?
You are right. I will keep the device. Thank you internet stranger!
For gods’ sakes don’t make me the arbiter of fun!
How else will I know if I’m truly enjoying something? You seem like you know what you’re talking about.
In these comments: People who can’t figure out what sarcasm is.
On the internet? There is no way!
That or they just don’t like the content of the post?
I haven’t upvoted the post because I’m not a huge fan of the “I’m not like other gamers/posters” style of content and don’t really want to encourage it.
I said nothing of the point value on the post. One can clearly see the comments here and how most of them blatantly took the post seriously (or didn’t actually read the body).
And they told me that post quality was much higher here than on Reddit, lol
Hey! I took a good 5 minutes to write this original content. That’s like 10,000% more effort than the average repost on Reddit.
I appreciate the humor here and also feeling like I’m getting aware how hard it is to find honest feedback on anything game related with how heavy THE MARKET wants to push influence on the industry. The stuff about BG3 being THE WORST BECASUE IT HURTS BIG MONEY FEELINGS comoflauged articles was INSANE. Fucking Chat GDP ones shilling that little companies shouldn’t be thought of nicely.
Thank you! This entire post is my little way of poking fun at the current state of things. It’s as if the market tries to set a singular narrative for new games/products and it’s very hard to provide honest feedback if it goes against the grain in any way.

That BG3 drama was pretty much fabricated to stir up social media engagement. The sentiment you are complaining about really only existed in the mind of people complaining.
Nevermind that neither Larian or Sony are small companies.

Remember to also apologize to the post office handling the return.
That comment really got to you huh 😂. I agree though if you get a benefit from it it’s not a waste. I did have one thought while reading this and the related thread… Why not just use an iPad and your dualsense?
I don’t have an iPad 😆
And the experience of using a dedicated device for the task seems more pleasant to me anyway. I did try the Backbone but it annoyingly required me to take the case off my phone every time I wanted to play.
Remote play is an absolute godsend.
I figured it out on my Galaxy Tab A a few years ago, which required you to tether your controller. Then this past January, when I ruptured my Achilles Tendon, being able to run Xbox Series X, Playstation 5 AND Steam games from my Steam Deck in bed was HUGE!
That being said, I don’t see the need to buy another device to do what I’ve already been doing…
Bad troll, 2/10 (2 since it was written decently I guess). Now the real question is, Why don’t I have a downvote button?
