What does your battlestation look like? PS4/5, XBox, PC or some oddball Chinese retro handheld?

I general stick with a GBC or GBA with an Everdrive, as well as a DSi with custom firmware. It gives me the benefit of original hardware without paying the absurd retro game prices.

Do you have a backlight mod for your Gameboys? I’m tempted to mod my GBA but I know I won’t use it lol

No backlight mods. I actually like the stock screen. Not having a backlight is what gave the GB and GBC it’s legendary battery life. In addition, many GB and GBC (not not necessarily all GBA) games were designed with a non-backlit screen in mind.

That said my GBA is a SP AGS100 (front light)

I understand the appeal of a stock console, but damn I could not play on a non backlight device anymore, was such a pita when I was younger lol.

I’m a PC guy myself. I use a PC desktop w an AMD 3900X, nvidia 3080 Founders Edition. I also love my steam deck and have a Valve Index for VR.

I seem to be using the steam deck more and more since I’m on a pixel art retro JRPG kick and the deck handles them with ease.

I don’t have a steam deck, but my experience with handhelds is that even if you never take them anywhere it’s worth it even just for the ability to curl up in bed with it like you would with a book. It’s so cozy.

That’s pretty much how it’s been for me. I got the Steam Deck mostly for if I go on a trip, since I didn’t use my Switch much because my PC library is too huge (thanks Humble) and I didn’t like re-buying games on the Switch.

But I’ve found that the Deck had become my primary gaming platform now, and I use my desktop pretty rarely. Like you said, gaming in bed, or on the couch while my SO watches a show is a lot nicer than in my office. Being able to suspend games has been fantastic as well.

I game on Switch, PC and Android. Recently it’s been on Switch mostly, but I alternate between it and PC depending on if I get burned out.

A PC I just built this year, I have probably used it more to steam thing then play honestly. I don’t have too much time to play things with kids.

For all of my gaming needs, I have a desktop PC running Linux as well as a Steam Deck. I recently came back from a trip that had me using my Steam Deck a lot, and it was great.

A custom PC that runs modern games on good settings but is also designed to run quietly. Fan noise bugs me.

I wish I could say that I built it myself (I used to build my own systems, years ago). But instead I paid way too much for it. I’m happy with it, but yeah…build your own if you have the time and energy!

Primarily my gaming PC, but it’s getting pretty old. AMD FX-8350, 16GB RAM, GeForce 1050Ti, lots of storage.

In the living room I have a Switch and Steam Deck, I play the Steam Deck more lately, mostly for co-op games like Stardew and Brawlhalla.

I built my first ever gaming pc this year so I’ve been trying to get through an infinite backlog of pc games that I’ve missed over the years. But as of right now all my focus is going towards TOTK on Switch

Used to play on PC but rarely have time to do so now. So now I play Zelda on Switch while commuting :D

I mostly use my Linux Mint PC and the family Nintendo Switch. I also have a PS5 and a 3DS which get occasional use.

    PC, Steam Deck.

PC for multiplayer titles that require comms, and Steam Deck for everything else.

Same, I use mostly PC for multiplayer games and for more demanding games. I use my Deck to play older games / indies that runs well, but I have a hard time playing games with low fps.

Steam Deck has been one of my best purchases to use alongside my PC. I have a Switch too, but I don’t use it much when there aren’t new exclusives. But, the Deck having the same ga,e progress as my main PC has led to constant use when I want to play on a handheld.

My gaming desktop PC is my primary gaming rig. I run linux on there and its honestly been great, I’ve been really happy with my 7900XTX and it plays all games I want at 4K. My steam deck is a close second for portable/sofa gaming.

My vision sucks due to double vision so I have to use handheld to get it close enough to my face to see it. (the farther away things are, the more the two images split apart) So it’s Switch and Steam Deck for me.
