The devs offered to run an instance for us a year ago, as a service it grew on us and only recently have people started showing more interest in it.
you mean the developers of Lemmy offered to run an instance for perth chat?
For the first year yes, they wanted to promote lemmy and we were curious about it.
We now have custody of it and need to keep maintaining it. :)
