This is the best summary I could come up with:

Qatar speaks with Hamas political officials in Gaza who then relay messages to the group’s leadership inside the strip who are actively trying to avoid detection by Israel.

US officials had said getting answers from Hamas was an incredibly cumbersome process during the first round of negotiations that led to a series of hostages being released.

Some US officials agree the military pressure may have the effect of eventually driving Hamas back to the negotiating table.

Since hostage talks that had been taking place in the Qatari capital of Doha broke down earlier this month, formal negotiations have not resumed.

Hamas has refused to do that, arguing that the remaining women are considered soldiers – a claim that Israel rejects.

Speaking at a news conference Tuesday, Biden said he has heard “assertions” that there are no hostages currently being held in those tunnels, but that his administration has not been able to confirm that beyond a doubt: “I don’t know that for a fact,” he said.

The original article contains 586 words, the summary contains 161 words. Saved 73%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

The hostages are either dead or have been so horribly tortured, raped and terrorized that Hamas will never let them live to tell their horror stories to the world.

The hostage negotiation phase of the war is over, IMO

There was never a hostage negotiation, Israel started bombing the neighborhood from the get go, they never even tried.

Getting back the hostages was never the end goal. I’d even say they let them get taken even though they had ample information of the attack so they would have a reason to ethnically cleanse the area.

Wow, Israel stopped bombing a mostly civilian population for six whole days. They really tried their hardest in making sure this didn’t turn into some gross mess of dead innocent people.

And now Hamas is saying they won’t free any hostages again.

Seeing all of the Hamas apologism on lemmy is really disheartening.

What the Israeli state is doing to the Palestinian people is atrocious and unconscionable. That doesn’t mean you have to lie about what they have or have not done. They’re doing enough bad shit that you can just use the truth instead of lie and say that they have not tried to get hostages back.

I have mentioned in an other comment that I am in no way pro-hamas nor do I condone their action, I just see Israel as the greater evil and instigator.

It is not a lie to say Israel doesn’t care about the hostages when they are clearly more interested in the destruction of Palestine.

I think it’s clear rhetoric when you and the other poster mindlessly call me a liar.

Refute my point, how are their actions condusive to a safe return of the hostages? They are literally just killing civilians and journalists. Even the released hostages said they feared getting bombed.

The difference in military might makes any talk of cease fire nothing but postering. It’s not a cease fire, it’s a 6 day break before going right back to slaughter. There was a path that was open to Israel that would have minimized civilian deaths but they chose to go the opposite way as hard as they could.

And this is just the past few weeks, to say nothing of the past decade or two.

Erm, is it really a truce when you continue to be pushed into tighter and tighter ghettos that are under literal blockades…?

Keep in mind IDF is responsible for far more civilian deaths than Hamas going back decades.

Mate you just said in your earlier post that the hostages are all dead and now claim that everyone is is saying falsehoods.

Chill out and best say nothing at all… Imagine people who are related to hostages read what you said. So heartless.

I said that there was no negotiation because Israel never cared about it’s hostages and that getting them back wasn’t an actual goal of theirs, not that they don’t exist.

And before you send more rhetoric my way, I do not support Hamas. I consider both parties evil, only Hamas is more the rabid dog backed in the corner evil while the Israel government is more of a calculating genocidal evil. Also, Israel in this analogy is the one that beat the shit out of the dog to make sure it’s as violent as possible.

Which is obviously untrue to the facts. Israel was part of the negotiation or a ceasefire wouldn’t have happened.

I could care less what you think when you begin with a lie.

I’m implying they are postering, clearly they at least have to pretend they care and that this isn’t about stealing land and displacing a population.

Their actions betray their true intentions.

And even if they did care and I’m completely wrong, sending missiles straight into civilian populations is an unacceptable and seriously inefficient way of going about the rescue of hostages.

But seeing as how we are talking about an apartheid state that has a long history of abuse, I’m guessing the bombing of women and children is being done maliciously.

Explain how dropping bombs on Gaza, when they know that the hostages were taken to Gaza, was a sound decision to get the hostages back?

At this point Israel could use the threat of continuing to bomb as a way to get more hostages back. Instead as soon as the pause was lifted, they immediately returned to bombing civilians. No delay.

I said no such thing. Just called you out for chatting rubbish and then whinning when you didn’t like the response.

What you said about Jewish hostages was deeply offensive and just shows how antisemitic you are.

You are the one spreading anti-semitic misinformation by stating that Israel has no interest in getting the hostages back. It may not be their number one goal, but it is a goal and they have in fact negotiated and gotten some back.
