I remember having a pretty long debate about how the framing of pitbulls as “naturally aggressive” animals had its roots in prenology and race science, then for a while thought I might have over estimated on that, but it’s good to be proven right sometimes
Strange that a strong dog breed that a lot of people get to protect their homes and train to be mean and attack people end up attacking so many people.

I once saw a White girl at the grocery store with a shirt that said “Racism is the Pits” with the face of a pitbull. I had to look it up and, yup, sure enough she was wearing a shirt that raised awareness of pitbull discrimination by drawing an analogy to what people of color face through racism. Just chalked it up to a well-meaning, racist lib trying to posture as anti-racist animal lover.
I guess this person is the opposite of that.

I mean yeah. I can’t prove it but I’ve always thought the fixation on pitbulls being super-dangerous murder machines had more to do with the perceieved connection of pittbulls to black people, at least in the us. People will argue up and down about it.
It depends. There’s a lot of hate for them in my country because they’re vicious street dogs and have been known to kill old people and children. An indigenous group recently hunted one down after it mauled a child in their community.
Hate from more developed countries tend to come from people who see clips go viral online and immediately make blanket statements.
It pretty much became a dogwhistle for racists to fixate on how pitbulls are inherently more violent than other dogs.
