I’ve just been blocking communities I’m not interested as I’ve seen them. I’d rather curate my experience myself than have someone else curate it for me. To each his own though. I suppose I do use ad block lists prepared by others so not a ton different. Haha.
Alternatively, you could browse by Subscription and never encounter any community you didn’t want to.
That doesn’t solve the issue though that just locks you in your own little box

Pretty sure r/TheDonald started as a satire community and it evolved into one of the largest white nationalist movements the world has ever seen.
Like the nazis on 4Chan 10-15 years ago. They were debate threads for the sake of arguing. Same with the flat earthers there. It was for the argument, not the points made.
Then people didnt get it and it became real.

Not sure I’d conflate r/The_Donald with the Republican Party’s turn into overt fascism, as a whole. But yeah, there’s something to be said for the dangers of ironic bigotry.
Its not a conflation, but a direct line. I watched it happen. What was /r/TheDonald became the foundation of truth social and all these other white nationalist reddit style mediums. It normalized the kind of populism which Trumps base embraced, particularly for young white males, who have since, taken it much further. I’m very convinced it got tilted in the way that it did by a disinformation campaign by a state actor.
Trump nuts are the real snowflakes. They get upset at you without even a word needing to be said.
At this point of time, isn’t it time to see how many subs we can get banned from before the whole thing goes down the shithole?

r/The_Donald definitely started as satire. But as with all communities that only allow satire, they kept going until people couldn’t tell who was serious anymore and it eventually became entirely serious. Same with r/GamersRiseUp.
Same thing happens all the time in places with “edgy” or just plain offensive humor. Some people see it and think they are just being funny, others see it and think they found a group where hateful views are accepted. 4chan started the same way before it became a cesspit. Turns out when everyone is repeating racist and sexist jokes, that some of them aren’t joking.
