    Bear in mind those are death counts. The variants have become less deadly but that doesn’t mean they’re harmless

      I mean, no disease will never not be lethal, but that is considerable better than it was.

              Long covid doesn’t usually make you a vegetable or something. So it sounded quite extreme

                Being a vegetable isn’t the only negative QoL out there. If I have to take several breaks just walking to the mailbox, that doesn’t sound like any sort of quality of life to me.

                  If you are out of shape you’d rather die than carry on living? Quite drastic if you ask me.

                  But what’s the likelihood of getting long covid and/or otherwise getting such a debilitating condition that you’d rather die? Can’t be too common

                    Struggling to walk to the mailbox because a virus permanently disabled you is not the same as being out of shape.

                    And I’m not pulling this example out of my ass. My shrink’s daughter in law was a mountain climber, trail runner, etc. and after covid she can’t walk to the mailbox without having to stop for a breather.

                    And she had covid 2 years ago.
