Reddit has begun to take down people’s resource compilations as “spam”, which is what happened with SavageTruth’s USSR megathread. Therefore I want to help preserve his compilations by uploading ALL of it here onto Lemmygrad, where it will be guaranteed a safe space free from censorship.

Also, it may be useful to structure all these sources somewhat, maybe sorting them in a loose read order or something. I know there are plenty of reading lists already, but it might be of more use that way nontheless. The book I mentioned sprung my interest, but I’ll be damned if I don’t have some more basic reading to do already, so I’d like to know at least if I should look more into that instead of the aforementioned title.
I’ve been thinking of doing something like that, compiling a list of books into a single megathread, and sorting them by topic. And people could make suggestions and just make the list longer and more comprehensive. That would be a great megathread for sure!
That would be awesome. Though I am new here in Lemmygrad, so I’m unaware if such a thing has already be done here before. I know many such lists existed back over on Reddit, maybe we could import them somehow and then tweak them in accordance with the community.
Here are two unrelated examples I had saved.
Marx to Mao. Old ass website a friend showed me. Could probably use some expansion and edition.
Socialism in the 21st Century. I honestly don’t even know how I stumbled upon this by myself. Probably some late night scrolling through communist Reddit before the quarantine. In any case, it’s quite comprehensive.

If you don’t know it, libgen.rs is your best friend for finding books. Over the last few years, I can count the number of times it didn’t provide me the book I needed on one hand. It’s founded and run by a communist as well ;p
Edit: I’m stupid actually, libgen isn’t run by a communist (as far as I know), I meant sci-hub.st which is a great resource for scientific articles.

The easiest way would be to save it on archive.org if you know the URL to the thread of interest (pro tip: use old.reddit.com, as it shows a deeper view of the comment tree than the redesign). There isn’t currently an automated way of mirroring comments from Reddit to Lemmy unfortunately, and doing it by hand would be tedious if it’s a large thread.
