I actually thought I might be having an aneurysm or a stroke. It was weird.

An iridescent zigzag appeared in part of my field of vision, and another portion of my field of vision just… stopped. I had this big blind spot for like an hour, all while this jagged rainbow bastard chilled in my left peripheral.

That went away slowly, only to be replaced with vertigo and exhaustion. Almost no headache, though. I kept verifying that one side of my face wasn’t paralyzed or whatever because I’ve had migraines a few times before, but those were nothing like this! Apparently they can just be this way.

Does anyone else get these? They’re dumb.

Yeah I get these, but I barely see anything crazy like in the image. It’s there but it’s also more like a blindspot that grows until I can only see things that I’m looking at directly (foveal area). So like, if I was reading this paragraph back I’d eventually just be able to see an individual word or maybe an individual letter. But an hour later everything is back to normal. They suck but luckily I don’t get them so often. Stress seems to bring them on.

Do you also bounce back as quickly as @nzodd does?

I’ve felt godawful since the acute symptoms faded. Almost flulike, but not exactly. Really hard to explain.

Yes! I’ve had this before also; luckily was able to get in to see an optometrist who, after she ruled out retinal detachment, told me exactly what it was and said something to the effect of “next time it happens just sit back and enjoy the show”.

    Do not recommend either.

Haha thank you! The first time was definitely a very scary experience, I felt the same way you do now; hope that you’re not too rattled and doing better now!

Yeah, they’re the only type of migraine I’ve ever experienced and thankfully only a handful of times, I find if it happens going for a nap is the best remedy

…or if you happen to have mainlined the equivalent of 8 espressos, catching up on that latest album you haven’t checked out yet is an option. That’s what I did last time I got one of these.

I get these several times a year. They can be quite disturbing. They last about 20 minutes then I feel fairly drained for the rest of the day.

(Luckily, I suppose) I didn’t even know these were a thing. I’d definitely be scared of the things you talked were it to happen to me.

All fine for you since then, I hope.
