ROME, Feb 23 (Reuters) - Footage of police beating pro-Palestinian students drew broad condemnation in Italy on Friday, with the opposition calling for the interior minister to address parliament over the episode. Student marches were blocked by police in the Tuscan cities of Florence and Pisa, with images of officers vigorously using their truncheons on school-age protesters in Pisa triggering outrage on social media and from politicians.

I am publishing this article because I received a report about a post reporting the same news, but which was deleted because doubts were expressed about the reliability of the site used as a source.

Unfortunately that post, published by one of our users, was totally founded and correct

Well, in Italy police violence against students even forced the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella to issue a statement criticizing the behavior of the police.

It was me… I chose the article which best described those facts, unfortunately there was very little attention given to the event by the international press, so only few sources were available. I preferred to delete my post because the accusation of being “Erdoğan’s propaganda” would have led the article to be ignored. I posted a more neutral press agency note in another more “tolerant” community to avoid similar effects again.

I took the liberty of mentioning you administrators, because unfortunately, if a moderator closes his account, Lemmy does not provide an automatic mechanism to notify the administrators that the community has remained “orphaned”

            Ops…

I know this well, because as administrator of feddit.it I received a report regarding the content you published and, being in Italy and following Italian news well, I was able to see that the news was true and should not have been reported: in fact it is wrong report content only because the sources are biased. If the sources are biased, this should be addressed in the discussion.

In this regard, I would like to take this opportunity to remind the administrators of feddit.it that the European community https://feddit.de/c/europe is currently without a moderator.

Edit: However, now I have seen that a new moderator has been promoted, while the one who was previously the community moderator turned out to be a profile that no longer exists
