In the article it says the frames were melted by heat from the lights.

From the photo it looks like the inner window panes were still intact. That would be enough to keep the plane pressurised, I’m guessing. For a while at least.
making my work look beautiful
The plumber who did work in my kitchen made a fantastic job of the under-sink pipework. Everything curved and lined up just so, little screw valves instead of clunky taps, it’s lovely. It’s hidden away behind cleaning products, but I know it’s there and it makes me smile. Thank you to tradespeople who enjoy their work!
A decent time in Saturday’s race. Not a medal of anything, just nothing too embarrassing.
I freely admit to being that sucker. In a weak moment during a Covid lockdown I bought an iPad Pro. Worst purchase ever. It’s too heavy to use comfortably, the battery life is shit and the paucity of apps compared with my Android phone is ridiculous. Worst of all, it died suddenly less than 18 months after I bought it. It was replaced under consumer laws here, but still. I feel like an idiot for having bought it.
The only other Apple product I own is a 160GB iPod Classic, bought in 2007 and still going strong. Sturdy, good battery life, small size, decent interface, room for all my music. So of course it’s no longer produced or supported.
I’m old. My hearing aids have Bluetooth. Brilliant sound, better than any headphones/earbuds I’ve ever had. They wee reeeeeallly expensive though.

You mentioned the missing persons reports being mainly children… maybe you’d get more traction from Operation Hydrant, which took over the Yewtree investigations.
Or maybe cook up a story about some old king being buried there.
Three designs too - 19th century cantilever, 20th suspension, 21st cable-stayed. Also, the Forth Bridge is a UNESCO world heritage site. We love our bridges!
I’ve just realised that I haven’t viewed a single tiktok video since leaving reddit. So I guess I haven’t missed them. I never posted anything on reddit, I mostly lurked - as a passive consumer of other people’s content. That’s the biggest difference I guess. Here I have several different logins on various servers, and I’ve posted a few times in niche communities. It feels like a mini adventure!

Brilliant. Boost was my favourite app for the other place, it’ll be great to have it back for the fediverse.
That’s really interesting! I once ate yak goulash in Bhutan - it was delicious.
I’m part of a health study in the UK that recently did a poo study as well. I didn’t take part, but this week we got the results. So now I know what areas of the country have the most and least frequent pooing. There are also stats on constipation and diarrhea, and length of time sitting on the toilet. I’m happy to copy and paste if anyone is interested… though given the post title, maybe I’ll keep it to myself, lol.
Shackleton’s journey by open lifeboat from Elephant Island to South Georgia was in itself pretty astonishing. Captain Frank Worsley navigated using iirc a couple of pencils and a rubber band, and only caught a few glimpses of the sun to help his calculations. They landed on the wrong side of the island and had to climb a mountain pass to get to the whaling station. At the top of the pass they decided, what the hell, and slid down on their backsides. This didn’t kill them, phew, but it did shred their trousers, so at the bottom they carefully safety-pinned the bits together, “in case there are ladies”.
Yes, there was uproar over a prize-winning GSD at Crufts one year, it looked crippled.
“One shattered window pane was later recovered from the runway during a routine inspection.”
