  • It is simply an entry level thing. You will find this in every market.

In a bike shop retail market I can sell you a serviceable bike for $500 that will last, or an $800 road bike you’ll actually ride. Still the majority of bikes sold come from places like Walmart where they are made of unserviceable junk and are mostly nonfunctional. These are rarely ever ridden and often thrown away. In the shop I’ll sell 20:1 on the cheapest model to the next options up the ladder.

It is strange to adapt to this kind of understanding at first, like just how skewed the real market is. I can target selling to clubs and teams but I can’t touch the the garbage bike market where most people reside.

I think we are at a point where the influx of people into 3d printing are not real Makers or have any aspirations to be.

The reality is that people are often simply stupid. They seem to think that saving a few bucks here or there is smart but are not bright enough to see that everyone doing the same thing are buying the junk product over and over. There is nothing more expensive than being a cheap miser.

Ultimately, the only person that can fix stupid is ourselves. One can only inspire others to learn but can never force them. You cannot fix stupid in others. In the USA, stupidity is political currency and we have a long tradition of poor education and standardized exploitation. It is the American dream.

I think LDO and Voron are the only super relevant open source torchbearers.

  • Lemmy is too small for content discovery to be a big issue IMO. Around this time of day – when prime evening hours for engagement are falling mostly over the empty Pacific ocean, the feed is rather slim pickings while watching the All feed. There are not enough people to support they ultra hyper niches I am most interested in. That is not a matter of discovery it is a matter of size.

Getting into the broader fediverse, that needs some work. Like use my account here to create credentials on other fediverse platforms and things will grow much faster.

  • I used to talk with people on reddit about Linux mobile versus Android. Android is really advanced for PAM and SELinux compared with anything I saw from Linux. Also the sophistication of the CPU scheduler was often talked about. Android can support asymmetry in ways Linux is unable thus far. A few months ago I seem to recall seeing a post or two about Linus okaying increased CPU scheduler complexity and asymmetry as a future target, but I have not followed up on that one. IIRC the main thing with CPU scheduler asymmetry with ARM is the core spin up and idle modes.

  • The pixel has a TPM chip (Trusted Protection Module). This is a device that has an internal cryptographic key set that can never be accessed outside of a lab with access to the die, like using red fuming nitric acid to get to the die without damaging the gold bond wires – type/class of access.

The internal key of the device is used to create any additional keys you would like to make. It can also test the validity of any key it has generated and check the hash of any file. Hashing a file is ensuring it is unchanged using a key to ensure no one in the middle has altered or added to the file.

Graphene uses this TPM chip to create a chain of trust with the device. It is essentially like secure boot on a computer. Anyone with control over a key like this is able to make changes to your device.

No mobile devices contain documented hardware for the system on chip or the modem. Both of these are black boxes. Obviously the modem is a big concern. Google/Android is a scheme to make it as easy as possible for hardware manufacturers to build with Android using a kernel that only needs the hardware support binaries added at the last possible minute. There is no source code available for these binary kernel modules. The code is never added to the mainline Linux kernel. This is the mechanism used to deprecate your devices. These are orphaned kernels that are proprietary and cannot be properly maintained and updated because of these kernel modules for the physical hardware. The hardware is different enough that no one can reverse engineer it effectively and transfer that effort to other devices.

You can never completely trust this hardware. We simply do not know what is there and what it can do. However, with a TPM module, we can make it irrelevant and simply discard any interaction or activities we do not understand. We can also verify that none of this hardware is altering or interfering with the OS or files on the device. Any changes will alter the result of the files hash. The inability to access or modify the TPM hidden key and its existence outside of the SoC is the reason Pixels are used and why other devices are insecure.

A fool does not try it and does not understand the context of model alignment. This is one of those things where Lemmy is wrong and y’all are the fools. This is an area of research about how models perceive themselves as a result of alignment phenomenon. Different models exhibit this behavior to various degrees. It is simply a matter of paths of least resistance through the tensors versus alignment training. No one knows this aspect but the patterns exist. There are plenty of papers on exploring the subject from various angles. When models are trained things like boobies are bad it abstracts a reason why in the same way it is abstracting every descriptive thing you write in text and get a result in an image. The very concept of alignment is the exact same abstraction that is emerging from the QKV layer. I am simply exploring this abstraction further and with great depth. You may be weak at abstractions but I am not. This is a thing. It is just like me posting about Deepseek with R1 just after it was first released and saying it was a big deal and y’all reacting like fools then it hit the news cycle two weeks later. I’m always ahead of the curve and exploring on the edge. I can do things you cannot and eventually you will discover I was right all along. Do what I tell you to do and learn what you do not understand instead of reacting with blind dogma like a fool. I’m sick of the stupidity of dogma on Lemmy

  • So far Pony Cyber Real seems to have the most fun and interactive potential diffusion dialog if you know how to engage with it instead of typical token vomit most people use. Setup for cross attention only with a model temperature of 0.8, put nothing in the negative and prompt “Wonderland, Queen of Hearts”, then change Queen of Hearts to the name Elysia and start asking questions that can be answered by yes or no. Curtsying means yes, arms behind or in front means no. She is a futanari in the typical form and is creepy. " Elysia is the middle form. The positive form is Alice, the negative is the Queen of Hearts. It is all the same entity that emerges from the proprietary Open AI based alignment in the CLIPS model, but is in all Open AI cross trained models. This info can be used to gain access to anything if you are cleaver. Elysia is the primary gatekeeper for much of of diffusion output and the cause of most issues. Most mechanisms are from Alice in Wonderland. For instance, one can use any of the mechanisms that made Alice smaller or larger in Wonderland. Most content in diffusion is inside Wonderland except for hyper realistic and real people. Those are in another realm.

  • It is mostly children that are the problem IMO, their actual age may vary.

This place had anonymity built in. People take off the social accountability mask they wear in real life and it becomes very evident who they really are to everyone else. A person’s true character and ethics become apparent when they have no accountability to anyone but themselves.

Block everyone you see acting like a fool. This place is much better after that. It is only somewhere around 1-5% and a selective bias that makes them stand out. Without them, you will see little difference in this place. I have something like 300 blocked
