I feel like the gender political disparity for autistic people (not trying to stereotype, certain cartoon fandoms just tend to have a lot of autistic people imo) is more extreme than for neurotypical people. A lot of super online autistic men go down the alt-right pipeline and become wehraboos, Rhodesiaboos and MRAs. Meanwhile the super online autistic women post memes about being trans lesbian communists, enbies, sex workers slash social workers who specialize in trauma, etc. Obviously the latter has the better result.

The ones that weren’t weird enough to be appalling to the mainstream were the ones that were heavily commercialized in the 2010s. Comic books, Nintendo, Studio Ghibli, that kind of stuff. What’s left to be isolated “fandoms” are the ones that were full of weird screwballs to begin with, like Paradox games, and since weird screwballs in these cohorts were extremely online, they were radicalized in the mid-late 2010s.

I didnt get my radicalization until 2018. But i was a Paradox Interactive lib right up until then.

This, and I’m not a zoomer, I just didn’t break the state’s rules at and early enough age to know I could. And it just took me until all this to realize the societies are a fucking farce and their rules must be broken to escape from them. I blame Obama for making me feel like things could change. That, and going to a fucking Midwest college, all milquetoast and institutionalized.

They were already fascists. The brony trend literally started on 4chan who all thought it would be funny to “ironically” watch this new My Little Pony show and then suddenly found out they liked it. 4chan banned all My Little Pony content when it totally took over the site and it forced it to develop a community elsewhere. This created the wider brony community.

Given the origin it really shouldn’t be a surprise why this occurred.

It always blew my mind. Like, y’all are watching the same show as me about friendship being the greatest magic there is, working together to make things better, and helping people even if they’re different and thought, “This will be my template for the Fourth Reich.”

The show did have some really weird politics even from the beginning though, with the racialized Others being literal different species compared to the (apparently all caucasian) important and relatable ponies

The show was weirdly revealing about the liberal worldview. It accepts as totally natural and unavoidable a bunch of classist and racist things, but papers over them with pastel colors and says that everything can be perfect as long as we don’t question authority and don’t make waves and trust the immortal god emperess to run the kingdom.

You know, given that Caucasians have a long history of being the Racialized Other in Russia, I’m not sure that this was the best wording, exactly… If you mean “white” you should probably just say “white” instead of using weird racial pseudoscience words, right?

Anyways my own headcanon is that earth ponies are Hispanic people, the pegasi are Francos, and the unicorns are Anglos

Like you can’t look at the cum jar shit and not think that the fashy side of bronydom wasn’t at least partially in it because they enjoy “sullying” something innocent and girly

To be fair My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic was also the show where a shapeshifter who feeds on love kidnapped the bride of a royal wedding and took her place, and I’m just saying that I can honestly kinda see a straight line from there to “Judaeo-Bolshevists are scheming to overthrow our Western Values by tricking good Christian men into spilling their seed inside the fake peepee women all the while kidnapping our children for blood rituals, God save the King”

Anyways Equestria is the Great Shaitan, victory to the Axis of Resistance of Chrysalis, Tirek, Cozy Glow, Sombra, and Grogar

Part of fascism is literal fantasy and esoteric beliefs in biology, history, destiny, and hierarchy. It doesn’t surprise me that it’s what they got out of a kids show about magic ponies living in a kingdom

Honestly I’ve only ever been in the periphery of the Touhou fandom because Touhou is kind of a tough thing to really get into. I guess it doesn’t surprise me that the fandom is Like That because the otaku community in general is Like That, but I just never got that impression from Touhou specifically enough to really single it out like that.

This unlocked the memory in my brain where I watched the first two seasons or so of Friendship is Magic as it came out. That went well, I guess (where are our pony emotes)

The fascist bronys are the ones that would be very promptly liquidated by other fascists in the event that they made any headway in organizing.

I assure everyone here that bronies are definitely still a thing, in fact I still follow several brony YouTubers which have been going strong since the early days. Although my impression is that the fandom has by and large stuck to generation 4 and left generation 5 for the kiddies, so the output isn’t as much as it used to be.

I know literally nothing about this stuff but after a quick search I can say that makes sense. The G4 ponies look like what I picture in my head and the G5 all look like twitch streamers.

I know plenty of people who might say theynwere fans, but that particular label “Brony,” ses to have fallen out of favor.
