In 1868, the Supreme Court ruled on a case about Texas and secession from the United States, saying that union was "indissoluble."

I disagree; I think we should make Texas a libertarian state and then wall them up. Or even better cut the country in half horizontal. The biggest problem is christian nationalism and we let it happen because we just called them “crazy”.

I think Texas is bluffing here. This would create a huge amount of issues for them. I think they would be in ruins very quickly. I also think if they do they will rapidly descend into outright fascism. I really worry for their vulnerable citizens.

Yes, this is the same thing UK was pulling for 20 years on EU: “Give us what we want or we secede”. EU finally called them and what was the bluff for years escalated wildly, and it was hilarious.

Lmao that’s true, they probably only noticed they don’t have empire anymore around year 2000.

The only thing they’d have is oil and by the time they can actually cement themselves in International trade well, climate change will fuck up Texas beyond recognition

Let them secede, they’ll outright ban taxes because “libertarians” and then won’t have any money to do anything.

Please leave. I can only hope they leave and every confederate flag waving dipshit in the country tries to move there. Then one good cold winter kills half of them as their power grid fails for the upteenth time. I bet they would rename the state something like the “REAL America” or something equally fucking stupid but hilarious.

Maybe a communist revolution could occur and Texas can become socialist. ;)

The only reason I don’t want them to secede is because Second Thought will get fucked over if they secede

I imagine the first thing any state that successfully secedes would be to declare war on America.

I doubt they’ll actually do anything. If they do, I don’t know how strong support is from conservatives nationwide in the US. Anyhoo, nothing good for Texas’ citizens.

It’s meh. A political party --a political party in the US, anyway-- putting something in their platform means nothing.
