When people ask questions like this they need to clarify if Netflix is included in their definition of tv.

In my opinion watching TV is watching TV regardless of the source.

But people need to clarify the question.

If you are using it to watch 30 second to 6 minute videos then no.

If you are using it to watch full length movies or full TV episodes, then yes in my definition it does.

Who watches movie and TV shows on YouTube?

I watch primarily YouTube and it’s all hobby/educational content. And it’s not 6 minute videos. It sounds like you’re stuck in 2005 YouTube era.

Which is a different service called YouTube TV, so yeah, probably reasonable to call it ‘watching TV’ in that case, considering it’s in the name.

    TV? What’s that?

Everything through my laptop. Except for a shared Netflix account that costs me 5 bucks a month, and I only watch it on my phone.

    Plex + HDHR = beautiful.

For everything else I just sail some seas.

Helps that I’m a lifetime plex member and have been for a long time now.

Neither at the moment, but cable is actually getting more appealing giving the constant splintering of streaming services.

In the United States here and I haven’t had non-streaming television since I moved out of my parent’s house.

Toyed with things like Sling and YouTube TV once, but they just aren’t worth it.

If I watch any shows or movies it is from a selfhosted Jellyfin server. No need for any subscriptions or cable TV.

Where I live, you get very little over air TV. In fact, I’m not sure there’s anything now.

We don’t pay for TV, but I have a little yo-ho-ho station, check out DVDs from the library, stream, or occasionally watch one of those free Pluto channels if I just want background noise

I had an antenna set up to see what I could get, and I can pick up affiliates from all the major networks, which is nice.

But it’s so full of commercials I can’t stand watching anything other than PBS so I took it down.

Yeah you really need something to record the TV then watch it later skipping the commercials in order for it to be useful.

I use over-the-air supplemented by a few streaming services. After years of cable, it was startling how much better the picture and sound are with OTA. It used to be that cable was better quality, but they have compressed it down to the point where it is just barely acceptable.

I pay for cable, even pay extra for HBOs and 24/7 porn channel, tho this latter costs me $0.0028 per month so why not (it’s bad).

well, I’m in Hungary and have Digi TV subscription (it’s a Romanian carrier that’s in service in my country as well)

around 4 years ago when I contracted with them it was super cheap. since then it’s almost 3 times more expensive. it’s a usual thing here that long-time subscribers pay more and more just for fun I guess?
