I replied to that video that my favorite fallacy was the fallacy fallacy, the assumption that just because someone was using a logical fallacy means they are wrong, which of course, is wrong.
Rhetoric is just linguistics for people who dont wanna say they study linguistics and they get mad when you say this
I was going to defend rhetoric PhD programs, since a lot are actually about rhetoric and composition, and there’s a lot of pedagogical theory and practice that they research.
This guy seems pretty cut rate tho, and his CV shows him as like a principal or something and getting his PhD feels like it was just probably a credential for salary.
Oh yeah I’m a big believer in the humanities, I just like bullying my friends who insist they’re not a branch of linguistics or semiotics or what have you (as if that’s a bad thing)
