While I do agree with you, I have to say that the anti tankie posts are getting a bit much, especially since there is a dedicated community for that already. And the posts and comments you provide also don’t even have upvotes sometimes. So please for your and our sanity, tune it down a notch

These posts make me feel bad for .ml users. They’ve been pretty friendly in my experience.

Most of the CCP dick suckers I saw were on Reddit. Like it’s possible to be Communist and be against authoritarian regimes.

There’s plenty of history of sock puppeting and brigading. Don’t need screenshots to look up post histories and the modlogs themselves, either.

What does that have to do with the constant suppression of dissent the mods and admins of .ml do? That’s probably the bulk of the posts, showing what was removed under that RULE1 catchall of theirs (Which btw is mostly unjustified). Most of the time something is removed under R1, it’s because it was a negative of China, Russia or NK, no matter how right or correct it is.

Don’t need screenshots to look up post histories and the modlogs themselves, either.

It’s for ease of documentation and discussion, modlog entries are kind of a pita to dig through once they start getting older, though if you’re determined enough to verify something then you can still do that.

Their news, or world news, I forget exactly, has been the first long time subscribed comm I finally ditched. Anything posted there with a relation to the USA is going to inevitably devolve into ‘western imperialism’, ‘dems evil’, ‘china supreme’ etc. With any dissenting commentary being at best piled on to say how wrong it is, and just as likely deleted.

        genocide denialism

You have literally witnessed a real genocide for the past 2 years live on TikTok, with multiple daily updates on bombings, murders, and children assassinations. How come there’s not ONE picture of whatever other “genocide” you’re trying to construe leftists deny?

China is the subject matter expert on censorship and media control, they probably wrote the book on it. Israel by comparison is both new at it and, honestly, I don’t think they cared to hide it that much. China in all likelihood has very good (well good for them anyways…) reasons to do everything it can to keep a tight lid on it

People on China have widespread and non-prosecuted access to VPNs. This is common knowledge. Media is irrelevant, a single photograph from a mobile phone leaked on the internet would be enough to make New York Times cover. The fact that this hasn’t happened proves enough.

There isn’t evidence of genocide in China. You can possibly make an argument for police state, but the genocide thing is so thoroughly debunked even wikipedia had to change the article title to “persecution” last year. If you want to have a serious, evidence-based conversation about this instead of the usual ear-shutting and namecalling, I’m fully willing.

Human rights abuses against Uyghurs in Xinjiang

In 2014, the Chinese government announced a “people’s war on terror”. Since then, Uyghurs in Xinjiang have been affected by extensive controls and restrictions which the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the Chinese government has imposed upon their religious, cultural, economic and social lives. In order to forcibly assimilate them, the government has arbitrarily detained more than an estimated one million Uyghurs in internment camps. Human Rights Watch says that the camps have been used to indoctrinate Uyghurs and other Muslims since 2017.

Leaked Chinese government operating procedures state that the main feature of the camps is to ensure adherence to CCP ideology, with the inmates being continuously held captive in the camps for a minimum of 12 months depending on their performance on Chinese ideology tests. The New York Times has reported inmates are required to “sing hymns praising the Chinese Communist Party and write ‘self-criticism’ essays,” and that prisoners are also subjected to physical and verbal abuse by prison guards. Chinese officials have sometimes assigned to monitor the families of current inmates, and women have been detained due to actions by their sons or husbands.

Other policies have included forced labor, suppression of Uyghur religious practices, political indoctrination, severe ill-treatment, forced sterilization, forced contraception, and forced abortion. According to German researcher Adrian Zenz, hundreds of thousands of children have been forcibly separated from their parents and sent to boarding schools. The Australian Strategic Policy Institute estimates that some sixteen thousand mosques have been razed or damaged since 2017. Associated Press reported that from 2015 to 2018, birth rates in the mostly Uyghur regions of Hotan and Kashgar fell by more than 60%, compared to a decrease by 9.69% in the whole country. The allegation of Uyghur birth rates being lower than those of Han Chinese have been disputed by pundits from Pakistan Observer, Antara, and Detik.com.

The policies have drawn widespread condemnation, with some characterizing them as a genocide. In an assessment by the UN Human Rights Office, the United Nations (UN) stated that China’s policies and actions in the Xinjiang region may be crimes against humanity, although it did not use the term genocide. The United States and legislatures in several countries have described the policies as a genocide. The Chinese government denies having committed human rights abuses in Xinjiang.

Ok, so we can’t yet use “genocide”, we just have to say that China is commiting crimes against humanity on them

I’m not against socialism/communism, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’d be happy to see the fall of capitalism in my lifetime.

Just not replacing it with just another flavor of authoritarianism, which is what the Tankies push which is what the current regimes of China and Russia are

You can block them, so you don’t have to see their posts (or their comments, some apps allow you to block the comments as well iirc). Or you can move to an instance that chose to defederate with them.
