Judge has ruled that Donald Trump committed fraud for years while building the real estate empire that catapulted him to fame and the White House.

Judge Arthur Engoron, ruling Tuesday in a civil lawsuit brought by New York’s attorney general, found that the former president and his company deceived banks, insurers and others by massively overvaluing his assets and exaggerating his net worth on paperwork used in making deals and securing financing.

WHY, though? When what he’s accused of are crimes and the plaintiff is the NYS Attorney General, why the fuck is it NOT a criminal case??

Because of the types of laws violated in the case is what defines if it’s a criminal or civil trial. There’s definitely criminal cases that can be brought, but the prosecutors don’t seem to think they’re ready to be brought to trial

They wanted to get his businesses shut down. Asp, there’s still the part of the indictment about fining/recovering $250,000,000 from him. And if the DA wants to bring criminal charges, she still can.
