If so what class do you plan on playing? I’m probably either going to go Necro or Rogue. I’m leaning more towrds Necro though.

I loved Diablo II and III, but between Blizzard’s toxic corporate culture and their predatory pricing strategy for Diablo IV, I have zero interest in re-installing Battle.Net.

There are so many games coming out this year that I’m going to wait on until 2024 or 2025, because I only want to pay for the game once, not buy into these “games as a service” schemes.

Diablo 1 and 2 are some of my all-time favorite games. 3 was such a disappointment, it had lost everything that made 2 amazing. I’ve heard that they’ve mostly fixed 3… but I’m jaded now. I’ll probably skip 4 as well.

Like all my many years as gamer thought me, I will wait a couple of years to decide to buy it or not.

I’m usually a patient gamer also since I have kids and don’t really get a lot of playtime but this one and Baldur’s Gate 3 I’ve been looking forward to for a while now. Played during the beta and had lots of fun without any issues.

Patient Gamers, unite! (is there a patient gamers subreddit or whatever it’s called here?)

I’m with you; I’ll wait til it goes on sale in like a year or whenever. I tried the beta weekend thing and it was OK. Didn’t even “complete” it. I’ve never been massively unto Diablo, but I did finish all the rest at least once. But I have no desire to pay full price for D4. And like others, I’m wary after the D3 fiasco. And the fact the Blizzard of yesteryear is not the Blizzard of today, sadly.

Already played this morning before work. 😁 I also tried it out in the last two test weekends and enjoyed it. I don’t care much about the shop and don’t intend to spend more money in the near future.

Same, don’t plan on using the shop at all. I still remember D3 auction house.

I have basically no interest in it thanks to what actibliz did to ow2 and DI prior. I simply can’t trust them enough to let myself get invested in the launch.

If it seems great 6 months post launch I may try it out.

I’m really just waiting for Path of Exile 2.

I don’t plan on buying Diablo IV for probably a year or so. I’m going to wait for it to be cheaper than $70 and also I have too much experience with games being launched too early. I don’t really preorder or play games at launch anymore.

That said, I’m playing Necro when I do get in there. Love the class fantasy of controlling an undead army.

If past patterns continue, I’ll wait for the micro transactions to ramp so high people get outraged, items get nerfed/pumped/micro’d. Blizzard milk the whales for a bit. When they can’t get much more out of the whales they say “we are sorry, we fixed it and removed most micro’s” . (And keep the money)

Then it will be the “regular player” cycle of expansions and a more polished game. So maybe 1-2 years time?

My girlfriend and I are taking a week off at the end of this month to start our coop campaign! My only fear is that it feels a bit too mmo as we want to keep to ourselves rather than wait in some dungeon group queues.

I’m planning on playing with my wife. Do the dungeons have group queues? I didn’t get to try them out during the beta.

Yeah apparently some bosses need a party of several people. I’m trying to avoid spoilers and stuff so I didn’t look into it too much so don’t take my word for it tbh just something I saw people complain about in the beta threads.

I too was trying to avoid too many spoilers, during the beta I just wanted to get the level 20 cosmetic and then immediately stopped playing once that was achieved. I know they have world bosses that may require a large party but thought those were in the open world and not in a dungeon.

Is it like some games, you have to pay subscription to access multiplayer. If i dont subscribe. Can i play solo?

Yes, you can play Diablo 4 solo, and you don’t need a subscription for the game. It’s a one time purchase. The main map is connected online and is the same map for everyone. You can see other players occasionally, depending on your region server. It’s kind of like Destiny 2 that way.

It doesn’t require a subscription but does require to be online to play. You can play solo and also see other players in the world but dungeons you enter will be only for you and whoever is in your party.

As a relative newcomer to the franchise (and a PlayStation player at that), I played 3 and loved it. Went back to play 2 (Remastered) and hated it. I don’t know what to think about 4 – I’m inclined to wait for more reviews.

Diablo 3’s co-op campaign with my wife was a great time so I’m hoping D4 holds up just as well. Was a great way to unwind over a weekend.
