New to gardening, spotted the first strawberry today. I’ve killed so many houseplants over the years, It’s a great feeling to actually have something grow.
@honeyontoast Great job! Another thing you can do is leave out clean water, many fruit thieves are actually thirsty.
That is a great tip, thank you!
hell yeah!
Aw, it’s so cute! Congrats! 🍓
awww congrats!
Some bird is going to love eating that!
And pooping that. I have an older mulberry and cherry tree and I’ve yet to get to harvest them because I never knew when they were ripe, but the birds sure did.
Ha, most likely! For better for worse the area I live is teeming with wildlife, something will probably have it before I do.
Congratulations on your first harvest! If you find the birds a problem you can always cover them with a net. I use old dried willow sticks to prop my nets up so the birds can’t peck through them.
I might do that, I have some leftover netting from something else that should be able to cover it.
Nice! Strawberries are among my favorite garden plants since they are pretty easy to take care of and the strawberries are SO much more juicer and flavorful than storebought
Fantastic! I too, have been growing some strawberries. We got a elevated planter from Costco a bit ago, and a handful of strawberries from a local nursery and Home Depot.
