You’re not wrong, even including what was available it still wasn’t anywhere near enough to make itemized deduction a reasonable option. I mentioned the plumbing mostly because I thought it was funny that it was actually included in the list of valid deductible expenses for maintaining a home office.

Sorry I meant in the sense that the income is treated the same plus the benefits of additional deductions. You don’t typically get additional deductions or reimbursements for a normal commute job (for instance gas, maintenance, licensing, etc) that you might see for say…well my wife is a good example as a veterinarian. She’s fully reimbursed for CE, licensing, and other items required for her job.
I don’t know where you live but in the US the IRS considers rental income as regular income for tax purposes. So when you fill out your taxes it just goes in your bog standard income section.
Additionally all expenses incurred for certain repairs and maintenance are tax deductible. My house gets similar tax breaks as I work from home, so things like plumbing repair (I guess considered an essential service) and regular maintenance can be deducted (although I’ve never gone over the standard deduction so I never really realize those benefits).
In every imaginable way rental income is better financially than “standard” income…though not morally.
dragnato politics @lemmy.world•John Fetterman challenges Pa. school board’s cancellation of talk by gay actorEnglish285·1 year agoI have to since I’m in PA. I mostly care because I want to see more of this….but not just a threads post, but like actual political action. Still better than Oz, but man does it sting being fooled so thoroughly.
dragnato Gaming@beehaw.org•$600 Million And A Decade Later, Where Is Star Citizen?English19·2 years agoI think it’s important to remember that this was pitched as a single game originally. It was announced the year Mass Effect 3 came out. Comparing it to anything else is honestly pointless. Rockstar is building a game off its success and profits of GTA V. This is a ten year saga of broken promises and scope creep so astounding that people are saying they’re building four games when they’ve yet to prove they could deliver one. That’s just wild.

Yeah I think I was simultaneously surprised about that, and how long Mojeek had been in the game.
Mojeek has been an interesting alternative. I do find myself using google as a backup when I’m not getting what I need, but Mojeek does tend to present very different results.
I don’t think any other search engine, including DuckDuckGo, has its own web crawler like mojeek does. DuckDuckGo is security based, but still google in the end (similar to how most browsers are actually chromium). It apparently also uses a different term algorithm so you have to readjust how you search because it doesn’t do anything predictive or “smart” in its searching for results.
These are great games, but I don’t know if I’d recommend them to beginners into the world of JRPGs. Their primary draw, for me at least, is the complexity of their battle systems. It’s a lot to take in if you’re new to the genre. I could be monstrously wrong though, heh
Tales of Arise is great. The whole Tales series is really great, but Arise really felt like that next step from niche to the preeminent example of a modern epic JRPG. Something Squeenix has been trying and largely failing to recapture.
That feel you get when Duo Mobile app asks if you’re having a good time with their app. My job made me install you Duo, we are not friends.
Same, things have been running a lot smoother when I popped my head in today.
It’s definitely a transition. I’m loving it so far though.
Yeah this feels a bit different than some of the other “migrations” of mega stars. Messi isn’t in his prime, but these don’t feel like his twilight years. He still plays the game beautifully, and it could herald more investment into MLS like the last few times an “aging” star made their way over here.
Miami (Coral Gables) born and raised, lived the rat year, still couldn’t care less about who wins. I don’t enjoy seeing LV there, though it’s not looking like it’s gonna be a very long series.
I’m a little shocked to not see Civ on here anywhere. Across IV, V, and VI I’ve probably got several thousand hours. Then I saw Minecraft down there somewhere and I was like yeah…probably that.
I mean it’s not tracked, but I’ve tried and run through almost every major modpack since finding the Yogscast around 11-12 years ago now, and at least once a year gone back to it.
Posting this from Mlem. It’s only available through TestFlight so you have to have that to follow this link. It’s incredibly basic right now, but works well enough. Just got an update today that added the ability to subscribe to communities. Since it’s a TestFlight app normal use at own risk sorta disclaimer, but also including their GitHub
I was actually coming in myself to ask which one you went with. I’ve been looking between vego and birdies…and one other I can’t remember. How’re you liking it?
This feels like the right choice of focus for an AC game, the ACs themselves, and well thought out map design.
It’s usually painfully obvious when you hit a game where the dev asked themselves (or had someone concerned about profits ask them), “Should this be an open world game?” Map pin collection sets in (every open world Ubisoft game), empty unused areas of the map with minimal detail that just feel like an area to grind juxtaposed against dungeons with fun and interesting puzzle mechanics and enemy placement that utilizes combat mechanics (Horizon).
It’s nice to hear a studio that’s aware of the type of game they’re trying to make, and the fans they’re making it for.
You might be right, it’s impossible to know for sure not being in his personal circle, but if that’s the case he should have stepped down. And if he’d built a circle of staff around him that was in alignment with his previous vision, then they might have asked him to step down. Either way it’s sad and frustrating.
