I’m on a Sony Xperia 10 IV now. Amazing battery life, decent for one-handed use, has a headphone jack, SD slot, and meh camera. Mostly solid overall- agree the situation’s getting worse and worse every year
I remember switching to Android because you could replace the battery and expand storage, and those were huge selling points. But now my phone has none of those things. Although I guess a lot of stuff is in the cloud.
No question, removing swappable batteries was pretty brazenly consumer-hostile.
One of the main reasons I’m 100% on board with stuff like the Pinephone, at least in theory (just wish Linux phones were actually ready to be used as phones… maybe in another couple of years).
That’s the POS that they released back in 2015, premium glass with ridged metal sides, and they only supported it for about four months with software updates before declaring it obsolete because of the chipset.
Yeah, my wife had one of those. Google Keep would crash and it was generally unusable. I sold and moved to iPhones after that experience for the next 5 years.
The very same. My music app used to randomly commit suicide if I had the audacity to try opening a web page at the same time. Or sometimes just for the hell of it. I’m ashamed to admit that I queued for 3 hours to get that phone.

Yeah, this week OnePlus Nord N30 5g just released with an SD card slot and 3.5mm jack.
$300 with free wireless buds.
