bcachefs in mainline. It’s going to be fun.
Is it actually any good? I’ve seen some benchmarks that were not very promising but perhaps that’ll change in the future ig.
Dunno, I’m waiting until I don’t have to compile my own kernel to try it.
Every time Phoronix benchmarks a new patch, it gets significantly better, and it’s already much faster on about half the benchmarks. But, yeah, it’s still slower on the other half.
bcachefs is really young, with a fair runway of optimizations to explore, and itfs already doing quite well. I love btrfs, and am excited to see what lessons have been learned and explored on a clean plate.
