Thanks for posting! I didn’t even know a setting like this existed until now. Everything sounds a lot better now.

There are even libre FSF certified 3D printers, but for some reason NOBODY is making a standard ink-based 2D office printer that has none of this DRM bullshit or requires fucking proprietary drivers to work. Why is that? Sure I get it, under capitalism it’s difficult to just make something without the means and some investors that first need to be convinced that you’ll make something profitable, etc. etc. But why is no AES country (like the PRC) making some, or at least planning to in the future? Or haven’t I looked enough?

This shit will only get worse. Anyone who still uses Micro$oft products and values their sanity should consider switching to LibreOffice and if possible also consider replacing Windows with a GNU/Linux distro.

It always grinds my gears when I see yanks just dismissing objective truths and calling them “lies” or “fake propaganda” simply because it doesn’t line up with what they’ve been told. Like, I had that same ex-friend genuinely tell me that I can’t trust history! Lol

Multiple reasons. For one I don’t feel comfortable having a device in my pocket that keeps pinging cell towers. The thought of it just makes me somewhat paranoid, especially in the current imperial sphere. But my main reason was I find it really irritating when I’m outside and suddenly my phone rings or vibrates, whatever. Also the knowledge that I have my phone in my pocket makes me want to check it all the time. Honestly I’d say it didn’t have that much of an impact. Sure it was change which may not be fun at first, but I still feel like it was the right decision, at least for me. I’m way less stressed and distracted now while going grocery shopping for example or even just taking a walk. Because I know full well that I have peace for the moment and I can fully focus on what I want to do.

Also as a personal sidenote; I’m probably a minority but I just can’t stand using touch screens.

I’m not an expert, but I think they wanted to get rid of it because it costs more in manufacturing to keep it:

You have to account for the jack in the molds of the phone’s case.

You have to constantly keep stock of said connectors.

Connectors probably need to be installed/soldered by someone, increasing the amount and time of labor.

Since most phones today only have an USB type C connector (or even a proprietary one) you’re forced to buy extra dongles if you want more interfaces.

I’ve been practicing this exact lifestyle for many years now. Except, I don’t even have any kind of cellular device at all! So what if I can’t immediately respond within 2 seconds? I always tell people that if I don’t respond, then that means I’m either busy or away somewhere.

Like SpaceCowboy said, there were a bunch of these people around here the past few days. If you weren’t there and aren’t seeing anything now that’s because the mods have removed their comments and banned the worst offenders. Look at the modlog if you want to know the details.

Invidious utilizes a PostgreSQL database to cache video entries. By default every 30 minutes or so it attempts to connect to YouTube’s Servers via their APIs to refresh the local database. Basically invidious is like a RSS News feed reader with extras for YouTube.

yewtu.be is one of many public Invidious instances. Invidious is an open source front-end for YouTube.

If they don’t commit suicide they become homeless. In the capital city of our country I remember some homeless guy roaming around. And as it turns out he was a Professor at a university for a while. I don’t remember the reason why he lost his job. But he too couldn’t find another job.

Also he said that at night there was always this group of neo-nazis roaming the streets who would beat him up and humiliate him if they’d cross paths. And during the winter he’d rob a bank and wait for the police to arrest him, because then he’d be in jail with a roof over the head, a bed and 3 meals per day.

I too switched to sway because any X11 compositor I’ve tried over the past few years I could never get vsync properly working. I have multiple monitors one of which has a different refresh rate. The mixed refresh rates actually makes X11 compositors constantly use up 10-20% of my CPU. And when I turn V-sync off my GPU starts sweating really bad for some reason. Wayland literally has none of these problems.

The framebuffer console does actually support UTF-8 if your locale is set up correctly (source: I just switched to my TTY and tried it). Not sure about right to left/bidirectional though.
