I don’t think it’s contradictory.
Keeping same-sex marriage outlawed is just like any other form of governmental control. The same as guns restrictions, taxes, mandatory schooling etc.
You may argue that same-sex marriage is an essential human right etc. But this is your values, many other people don’t share them. Brave CEO may share value of digital privacy and not share value of same-sex marriage.
I won’t continue this discussion further.
dependend on Google Addon store
I think that’s 50% true. There are multiple alternative places to host addons:
These alternative places are not popular so Google Addon store is an effective monopoly. But I think it’s not impossible to challenge that.
How on Earth? Is their business model sustainable?
Okay, Mozilla financially depends on Google. Yes, that’s pretty sad. But I think it’s too soon to quit on them. They’re trying to make privacy ecosystem and that might help them become independent.
As for now, even though Mozilla is financed by Google, did the dependence really influenced Mozilla’s decisions?
I fucking hate this project. I know that this project gives no new data. But this project makes it a lot easier for most folks to harm Elon. That’s how the scale works. If we increase cigarette prices of course many people will still smoke, but the number will decrease.
It’s a privacy-hate project. You may hate Elon all you want but he has the right to private life as all of us do.
But is it sustainable… I mean can’t google just break it easily?
Why do you use French?
Do you receive donations? If no, consider it. It will be simpler to buy what’s needed (vps, for example) yourselves.
This would be cool but I don’t think it’s a priority. There are much more needed features not implemented yet.
people don’t want to have to make hundreds of accounts on hundreds of different servers, which is why most people don’t self-host or collaborate that way
Yeah, totally understandable.
Maybe they mistreated you by deleting your project, idk. If that’s the case, it’s not good, but Codeberg is still better than Github freedom-wise.
Why did they remove it? Just because it’s torrent?
Btw what is this project? Can you share a link?
Maybe self-hosted Gitlab then? I don’t know if it has all features you need though.
There is no mastodon hegemony and won’t be in near future. The hegemony is Twitter, Facebook etc. While they are dominant other fediverse projects don’t compete with each other, they compete with centralized social sites.
Let’s hope the growth continues.
Chinese state media? Wikipedia articles on China?
I agree. There is Codeberg which looks like a good option for migrating. It’s not so feature-rich yet but basic functions are there.
I think doing something more decentralized than twitter is better than doing nothing at all.
I often hear this argument: you should’ve done “this” instead of “that”. I think it’s misleading. Doing “this” is already good. Doing “that” may be good too. Why not do “this” and “that”, not only one of them. Resources are not limited: there can be a lot more developers making new products.
