It’s 2021 and the virus situation hasn’t ended when even some people speculated that thing is gonna end at x month. though it doesn’t (f-word)ing matter much since I don’t go outside my room much let alone actually walking around outside and touching grass like a real human being. other than that I’ve been staring at random objects like my blank blue wall, so; maybe It’s fate or not. but It’s about time I make some videos. become a ゆーつーばー

youtuber (A little microaggression, I absolutely love this word. it makes my mouth bubbly and my stomach feel like it has insects)

Yeah… but, I have a little problem.

youtube needs my phone number and in some cases- my id. I don’t know their security nor privacy-policy but I never seen anyone get doxxed (tell me if I’m wrong) has dogshit rules and policies clouded in so much vagueness, they seem to strike users randomly in which, doesn’t help the fact that they don’t communicate to their creators.

Positive thing about youtube is all the cool people live there, and everyone else.

Peertube is an anomaly and is the shit. I love the yellow theme and also pretty effing customizable, though instance owners don’t even theme 100% of the time, according to the bible that’s probably sin. the features are pretty good, I love the fact that I can have multiple channels connected to one account, although… one thing about youtube that is good is you can edit videos after you uploud it, would probably save alot of problems like removing copyright stuff.

Should I make a youtube account or like should I avoid it? tell me why/why not.

for obvious and personal reasons, I don’t want creepy people around stalking me, even a possibility of it happening.

Youtube is owned by Google. Google takes creepiness to the highest level. They want your phone number so they can associate any data they collect to you personally. It helps them stalk you. They are pathological stalkers. They collect info you search for in their search engine. They collect info from the sites you visit with the adsense scripts they have scattered on websites all over the internet. They give websites ad scripts so the site can be paid to display ads. They can track you across the web through those ad scripts. They close the loop with the Chrome Browser. It lets them grab info on anything you do and they make it difficult to stop them from collecting the data. Not only that, the HTTPS protocol provides a higher integrity to the data they collect and attribute to you. I will not give any websites my phone number. There is no situation online where giving out more personal info about yourself makes your online activities more secure. None.

I guess a more difficult question is whether there is any situation online where giving out personal info makes society more secure.

It would vary by circumstance. Which is a worse scenario? You defending your privacy and security against a billion other people, or a billion other people defending their security against you? Who has the better odds of survival?

So I better be on peertube and stay there. I should ask someone to reuploud my stuff later probably.

Are you talking about watching or uploading to YouTube?

You can use NewPipe on Android and FreeTube on desktop as free open source third party clients. They allow you to create (or import) a list of local subscriptions and a subscription tab where the list of your subscried channels’ videos gets fetched and ordered into a chronological list just like on YouTube with an account. They are less responsive and stable than YouTube app and website, but work well for watching your favorite channels.

Uploading, I already use NewPipe/Freetube, Invidious, + privacy redirector.

Youtube gets too easy for me to jump into rabbitholes for a finite amount of hours. So I only visit the official youtube website only for some dank memes.
