          Convenient that the parables and commands suggesting persecution of those different than yourself must be taken literally, but when Jesus says something that impacts you directly, suddenly he’s a master of metaphor.

            I call it Quantum superposition Jesus, or Schrödinger’s Messiah.

            To be fair, the stuff “mandating” persecution are mostly weird interpretations to justify agenda of a later imperial church. When being honest with the author intent and reading stuff in context, it’s never the case. And don’t get me started with modern “bible study” that ultimately leads to the current state of the far right and zionist apartheid support.

            The few things I have parsed from the Quran, I think is not the same case. That thing was straight up written to justify holy war.

              Huh? Okay that’s straight up wrong. The Muslim state in Medina was fighting a defensive war for most/all of its existence during the time of Muhammed, so there was literally no need to justify anything. I’m willing to bet you read a bunch of random verses shown by an islamophobe with zero context.

                I’ll admit I didn’t dig a lot on the context, but I opened the book at random and literally the first thing I found was something along the lines of “yeah, just kill these people and do not forgive them under any circumstances, as they are your enemies”. I did it a couple more of times and found similar stuff. The book wasn’t mine so I couldn’t dig a lot on it at the moment.

                I mean, I remember thinking “this book is newer than christianity, how bad could it be?” and then I was nope nope nope…

                  Yeah I’m pretty sure you misunderstood something, because “do not forgive them under any circumstances” doesn’t come up anywhere in the Quran and ignoring that part the one example that comes to mind has “if they choose peace choose it too” right after.

    The treatment of women in these Islamofascist dictatorships is our version of the holocaust and we’re all just sitting by and watching.

    I don’t know what we could even do, but I’m always filled with so much sadness thinking about the women and girls in those countries.

    Fuck religion and every preacher scheister spreading that shit.

      One way to win support is to pit one group against another. It makes them (the ones on top) feel good and deflects attention from those in charge. Here the woman are used to being treated poorly and many of them even aid in their own oppression. “This is the way it has always been.”

    So basically you can’t have windows in any building in an urban area because you can draw a line of sight to some place where woman are.
