Summary

Michigan State Rep. Laurie Pohutsky revealed she underwent sterilization to prevent pregnancy under Donald Trump’s administration, citing concerns over reproductive rights.

Speaking at a rally, she said she refused to let her body be “treated as currency.” Her decision follows Trump’s executive actions impacting reproductive healthcare and his association with anti-abortion policies.

Critics on the right ridiculed her, while supporters highlighted growing fears over access to contraception.

Trump denies plans for a national abortion ban, but his policies continue to spark nationwide protests and debates.

Critics on the right ridiculed her

They will always pretend that those who see what they are doing and respond appropriately are overreacting.

Yeah, these are the same assholes that gaslit right up until the middle of 2022 that Roe was not going to be overturned, calm down, liberals.

Then, after that happened, they gaslit about how it would still be fine in free states.

And then there is all the gaslighting they do for everything else - pretending to act all hurt when called racists, misogynists, homophobes, and driving this country toward fascism (bleating stuff about “Godwin’s Law”, even as they vote for donvict FFS).

We fucking see them. If anything, people are not reacting enough…

They were bleating about Godwin’s Law even after Elon Musk backed the German neo-Nazi party and did two Nazi salutes in front of the world’s cameras.

          Goodwin says go ahead.

From the Godwin’s Law Wikipedia article

In 2023, Godwin published an opinion in The Washington Post stating “Yes, it’s okay to compare Trump to Hitler. Don’t let me stop you.” In the article, Godwin says “But when people draw parallels between Donald Trump’s 2024 candidacy and Hitler’s progression from fringe figure to Great Dictator, we aren’t joking. Those of us who hope to preserve our democratic institutions need to underscore the resemblance before we enter the twilight of American democracy.”

before we enter the twilight of American democracy.

Twilight already started. Look around at the anti-woke crowd, urging us to go back to sleep. Shhh, calm now, strong daddy government will totally keep us safe. If you think you hear anything scary going on, don’t worry - you’re just imagining it.

I’m also getting sterilized because of Trump. A hysterectomy specifically.

I have endometriosis and the only thing keeping it relatively at bay is birth control. My specialist decided that a hysterectomy is “medically necessary” at this point for the “debilitating pain” that I’m in. My specialist knows how to play the insurance game.

My endometriosis isn’t back with a vengeance yet. My doctor just knows that getting this procedure done is vital because of how things are going in regards to reproductive rights.

If I start having periods again and my endometriosis goes untreated, I won’t be able to work at all. The pain and blood loss is too great for me to function. My doctor knows this and expedited the surgery as much as she could. It’s not until July, but apparently there’s been a lot of women “needing” hysterectomies lately, which is why my doctor is booking so far out. I hope every person who needs a hysterectomy can get the treatment they need and deserve.

It’s not completely medically necessary yet, imo. But I should have been able to get one years ago when I decided my uterus needed to go. Men can get vasectomies with no problems but God forbid a woman yeet her baby maker.

I had a friend many years ago that had it and she was miserable. It sounds excruciating. I hope the best for the recovery. It can’t be easy.

I don’t live in the USA so I can’t say anything about it, but I can say that sterilization is the best thing in the world if you are sure you don’t want kids, or don’t want anymore kids. Done 10y ago and I’m still wating for the regrets 😹😹

My wife had a hysterectomy a few weeks ago. Even though she already had her tubes removed and the hysterectomy was for other reasons, she said this felt like a good “eff you” to Trump

Slavery? The extremism is real… Honestly sounds like something some religious group would say.

It really just seems like both sides, MAGA and Democrats need to compete to come up with the most insane polar opposite opinions to make each side look more and more extreme. In some ways I feel the social aspect is causing this chaos in our modern society
