“Why yes, my overpriced fake leather nostolgiabait shoes that have nothing in it, dont come in wide, and gives people pla tar fasciitis is muxh better than the other overpriced fake leather hipsterbait shoe!!!”
And then kids will literally screech in the damn store if they dont get their shitty nike shoe, becayse its about the NAME of the BRAND!!!
FUCK OFF SNEAKERHEADS YOU ALL SUCK!!!
It’s just Funko pops for a different demographic, maybe worse because shoes have a use and are destined to sit on a shelf as a speculative asset.
Just get into magic the gathering and use the cards in a tournament smh
A collectible sneaker game.
Draws a shoebox from the pile
ties two blue shoelaces together
”I cast Air Jordan 1 on your Air Balance 990, it goes straight to the scuffed pile”!
At least the 990s are functional shoes
I have no clue, I had to google a list of sneakers to fill in the nouns for the joke lol.
maybe worse because shoes have a use and are destined to sit on a shelf as a speculative asset.
On the other hand, maybe better because the shoes have a use and someone at some time might actually wear them?
Idk, interesting to think about.
yeah i could steal shoes and wear them, you can’t do anything with stolen funko pops.

Did they ever miss?
Slightly transphobic line in the song that’s a list of all the reasons for past breakups
Oh yeah! I remember that! Sucks :( Seems like that whole concords team is much better now though.
Fucking hate hate hate hate sneakerheads.
Sorry I grew up with a single mother and we could only afford Payless shoes and then getting teased by idiots throughout my school years for wearing no-name shoe brands.
I can count on one or two fingers the amount of times I’ve looked at someone’s shoes and cared about the style or brand.
Fuck Phil Knight and Michael Jordan.
“Republicans buy shoes too” a quote from Jordan.
I don’t care what he did on the basketball court, he’s lucky he won between the competitive 80s and dodged the big centers of the 90s. Give me Kareem or LeBron as GOATs in the basketball conversation for not being total knobs.
When I went to school some kid tried to diss me by saying “I bet you got them at a discount” and I didn’t understand, because I did and that meant we could also afford a winter coat from the surplus store.
I always make sure to voluntarily pay twice as much for all my clothing items because that makes them better somehow.
“LOL you paid less money for the same product” really sums up my entire problem with the obsession.
It’s one of the most disttilled forms of consumerism.
These shoes made out of the exact same materials costs three times as much because of the name on them and the color combo, unless enough people don’t agree they’re cool and don’t buy enough of them then the value plummets even though its literally the same product.
It’s the same argument people had during the PS3/360 days. If you had a PS3 you were considered poor because you got to play online for free, while 360 users had to pay… for the exact same feature.
he’s lucky he won between the competitive 80s and dodged the big centers of the 90s.
???
Bird and Magic ruled the 80’s. In the 90’s Mutumbo, Hakeem, Robinson, Barkley, Malone, Kemp, and other bigs played in the Western conference while the East had Ewing, Mourning and young Shaq.
How did he dodge them when he won 6 championships in the early and late 90s and had a winning record against teams with dominant centers with Bill Cartwright then Luc Longley as a starters.
MJ averaged 28 / 6 / 4 against Seattle in '96, which had far more to do with Gary Payton’s defense than Shawn Kemp.
MJ dropped four 40+ games in a row against Barkley, including getting 55 in game 4.
MJ averaged 33 pts against the Jazz in the '97 and '98 finals and dropped 45 in his final game 6 in '98.
MJ averaged 31 / 5 / 4 against Mutumbo. Mutumbo average just over 10 points against MJ.
MJ averaged 31 / 5 / 4 against Olajuwon dating back to 1984 and going through the wizards era (where he dropped 21 / 4 / 3 on Hakeem). Hakeem, for his part, averaged 22 / 11 / 3 blocks against MJ teams.
Also dismissing “young Shaq” is wild. The Bulls championships well into Shaq’s career.
Like MJ is a piece of shit no doubt but this is just silly
edited with stats
Folks argue the Western conference was the better conference therefore Jordan has an easier path playing in the East. I too hated MJ and always rooted against the Bulls.
I don’t mean to downplay Shaq. Him and Penny were my fav team, but experience helps in the NBA and he became even better throughout his career so I thought I should note he was still developing. I hated him by the time he was in the West ruining the one shot the Timberwolves ever had of winning.
So I am an autistic person and really love wearing stuff with pikachu on it. Like obsessively. Most of the shoes with them on it are super expensive short runs that are like a billion dollars on ebay. Which super bums me out! There is one exception to this and its crocs which also happen to be comfy.
Could you apply Pikachu to your own shoes? Like a sticker or an applique or something?
Thanks for replying to my comment with such a thoughtful idea! I have tried that before and I dont like the looks of DIY stuff sadly. I am also not that creative as a person which does not help at all. My skills are more towards setting up networks and managing arrays of server. The other issue is I am also downright abusive to anything I own. I wish this was not the case but clothing really does not last long with me shoes included.
EDIT: Now that I look at these applique things you talked about they might work! Like I should have checked that out before commenting. Thanks again!
There’s stuff like print-out iron-on transfers too, might be a pain to do on a shoe but you might be able to make it work on like a canvas shoe.
🥰
I imagine the problem with that would be wear and tear - the sticker in particular. A native solution is just more durable, and often higher quality.
Have you looked into getting your shoes customised? I would expect there’s some relatively cheap solutions out there
Never thought of looking something like this up. Gonna give it a look when I have time.
I hope you find something good!
Heck, buy some blank shoes and paint them yourself!
My partner owns like 8 pairs of crocs
I actually just got into them because of a recent collab with pokemon. If I knew about them before and how comfy they were I would have bought them and decked them out before this.
whyyyyyy
She and her mom have the same shoe size, so tgey kinda joint own them atm
I’ve become croc-pilled recently. Or at least knock-off $5-$10 Croc pilled.
They’re a lot better than slides, and they have an optional back strap so you can walk fast without worrying about them slipping off.
Plus they’re super wide at the toes so they’re comfy. And easily washable when muddy. They’re the perfect camping/garden shoe. If they had a real running-shoe sole they’d be great for everywhere, but because of that I don’t really like wearing them walking around normally on pavement
and they have an optional back strap so you can walk fast without worrying about them slipping off
Putting em in 4 wheel drive
Open your third leg 👁️ 🦵
i mean i have a pair of sandals, one of regular sneakers, one formal, i probably have boots, and i used to have some sports-specific footwear but i struggle to understand how someone can make use of 8 pair of crocs, or even four if she’s sharing with her mom (also that’s kinda gross)
ok that rocks
I have a tangential bone to pick with people who worship brands like Nike and get their magnifying glass out if they suspect something is a “knockoff” or whatever.
If you have to inspect it that closely, count the stitches or whatever the fuck. It just is literally the same shoe my guy.
I don’t care who made it it’s a gucci nike whatever. If you argue with me about this you’re admitting that there’s literally nothing special about (brand) products. It’s so blatantly classist that at no point it occurs to them that if it takes that level of investigation to figure it out, they’re the same shoe in any meaningful way.
Me with MTG proxies. At this point the way to spot a fake foil card is because it is higher quality lol
Lol, remember that guy who got caught cheating because he intentionally wore down his desired draws which were the only foils in his deck?
QC is so bad now that cheaters are taking advantage of it.
I had not heard of that, that’s really funny! Yeah QC is shit now fuck Hasbro and WOTC. They’re also just releasing so much slop. I don’t want a LOTR or Fortnite MTG or Star Wars or whateverthefuck block. I didn’t really give a shit about their avengers assemble block either. I miss when it was just “yo here’s this dope setting, here’s some characters, here’s some game mechanics”. Everything has to be a weird gimmick now, and it all gets evergreened.
Agreed. The constant crossovers are annoying because I was quite into the lore. The Urza saga ruled, for example.
It used to be at the start of arena a bit of grinding could finish a collection before it rotated out, but then they started adding so much in minisets that can’t be pulled.
Commander with proxies is where it’s at these days.
I do like Nikes because they have some cool looking shoes. Don’t care much for AJ1s or their Jordan lineup in general, but they have more experimental techwear stuff which is cool. But outdoor wear companies like North Face and Arcteryx are also making them now. Expensive as hell, but as long as they look cool
“i enjoy [BRAND NAME], you do not like [BRAND NAME], you like [OTHER BRAND] i hate you”
- “sneaker culture”
I work at a shoe store anf the motherfuckers who want vans or converse even though they suck ass are insane, had a fucker once com0lain that our stock wasn’t “worth msrp” because people can try them on, motherfucker wr sell work boots here, shit that people do work in, not to go like “oh hurr duurrr look at me cool kicks, oops theyre creased timr to slam your head in a locker” (actual thing that happened back in my high school btw)

Converse shoes are like the most uncomfortable shit ever
hello yes I would like to collapse my arches in the fastest way possible please
One time I made a the mistake of going on vacation to NYC wearing converse and my feet hurt so bad I had to sit on the sidewalk.
I like vans… They’re cheap and they feel like they’re hugging my feet. I’d wear adidas sambas, but I can’t ever find them cheap in my size.
Got called old by some 60 year old dude in the grocery store thebother day for my sambas. Sorry they’re comfortable and last like 4 years at a time. And then when they do start to blow out they make good biking shoes.
I’ve heard that Sambas are starting to become cool again with the zoomers. Things have come full circle.
Yeah they’re in right now, which is sorta nice, but it means I couldn’t find a used pair for cheap
I have been wearing the classic all black Vans with the gum sole bottom for like 10 years straight as my every day shoe, I love them, they are apart of my cartoon character signature outfit.
They’re just so comfy!
If they had a slightly wider toe box they would be perfect. I wonder why most shoes are so narrow? Anesthetics I guess

The poorest kid in our neighborhood ended up craziest shoe collection I’ve ever seen. He didn’t spend a dime. In fact he got paid.
His dad worked at a tire shop and got talking to a customer who was an exec with the Clippers (this when they played at the sports arena. Worst team in the league). Instead of paying for 4 new tires he got his kid a job as a ball boy. After every game he came home with a player’s shoes, usually autographed. He also had access to free tickets, which made him very popular.
His name? Albert Einstein.

That’s the stupidest thing about it, the build quality on these sought-after sneakers is no better than the no-name sneakers at a quarter the price; typically they’re made in the same factories with the same level of materials.
I agree with you that a lot of brands should be ashamed of their price/quality ratio, but of course the world isn’t always black and white (expensive is bad Vs cheap is good). I have bought some pretty cheap shoes for work where the soles were disintegrated after a few months and the safety nose (whatever you call it in English, not my native language) was already showing through the rubber. This meant they didn’t met safety standards anymore for the places I work and I had to throw them away. Then I bought a more expensive (literally double the price) German brand and I already have them for over a year with little wear (so they are already lasting more than twice the cheap ones). Then I have also had an expensive Italian brand that didn’t even last two months before the heel padding was completely gone. The problem I have with cheap brands (and especially no-name) is that whenever I buy them and they turn out to be good, the next time I go to the shoe store they’re suddenly out of the assortment (seems to happen a lot here in Europe, especially the weird Amazon UUKKO/UFELLGOOD brands etc.). This means I’m taking a gamble each time I buy the no-name brand.
I have had similar experiences with sneakers. Some brands are truly terrible regardless we there they are expensive or cheap.
What I’m trying to say is that if you find a cheap brand (the 25-40 euro range) a lot of the time here they either become expensive eventually or they somehow are taken out of the stores assortment for whatever reason. Buying a slightly more expensive or expensive brand at least usually gets me reliable results. And I know that most of the time the brand will still exist.

Yeah sadly the reviews on websites like Amazon are a lot of times completely meaningless. I know some brands that give away free stuff for reviews (I’m amazed it’s even allowed) on certain tech websites and forums. I mean if you give people stuff for free then it rarely happens they will be negative about it so it’s basically paid shilling (being paid with a “free” product).
Also a lot of consumers who “review” something do it almost immediately after purchase. Especially with low quality cheap crap that means you will never know if someone is still satisfied with it after a few months since most people don’t bother to redo their review “it’s only 20 euros”.
That is true, cheap can mean quality but not frills or hype, and sometimes it just means garbage. However, what we’re talking about with these sneakerhead shoes, is prices in the $200-$400 range new. So a quarter of that would be like 45 to 90 euros.
Ah fair enough. I have never spent that much money on sneakers. I think 130 euros is the max I’ve ever spent on a pair of sports shoes/sneakers.
Yea I mean the example of good working boots being an example of how thebpoor stay poor is pretty fundamental but like you said nobody’s arguing against paying more for high quality durable footwear.
They’re arguing against a sneaker being worth $300 because it’s a slightly darker shade of blue than a sneaker made of identical materials in the same sweatshop that sells for $60. And you have to make sure to never step anywhere dirty or walk too much to avoid creasing them.
Also people spend hundreds of dollars on shoes and then spend their lives consumed with not stepping anywhere dirty, with the shoes they paid more for than a bombproof pair of boots.
I think collecting is fine as long as you have genuine interest in the object. But 90% of collectors sit on their shit they don’t even like because some certification company graded as A+++ Super Piss Perfect and valued it at $300,000. It’s like buying 30 houses for “investment reasons”
Me, a sneaker lover
Nah, but I get it too. I’m not the type to care about brands or creasing and what not. But the sneakerhead culture has pretty much fucked things up badly. Anything that gets hype starts to get subsequent release with artificial scarcity to drive up prices so that people that really just want to wear the sneakers are priced out.
Fuck, look at what happened with yeezys. Some adidas exec was crying about sitting on something like a billion dollars worth of stock and they’re still doing limited releases while trying to get rid of stock. They’ve held onto some for so long that some people received moldy sneakers.
I just assumed all Yeezys came moldy, based on the look of them.
holy crap they look awful. lmao
The market has gotten out of control with bots. Yes, mfs are sniping new releases as soon as they drop using subscription bot services. They’re not wearing them either. They’re reselling them for 500% markup. I gotta admit it’s smart. I should create my own bit and create artificial scarcity for other dumb shit
I want to just let people have their own interests but your hobby being “consumption” is cringe.
Like I’ve seen sneaker enthusiasts who’s entire thing is customising shoes to sell on and that feels somewhat better because like you are being creative but like 🤷♀️
your hobby being “consumption” is cringe.
This is kinda how I’m starting to feel about me collecting vinyl records. I love them, and love my collection, but sometimes I sit and I’m like ‘what’s the point?’ but then that feeling expands outward to life in general, and I’m like… whatever, I’m gonna keep collecting my big inefficient music.
But at least you’ll have music when the furries turn the internet off on us.
Vinyls are cool af but yeah how many of them do you collect because they are intimately related to your taste and how many just because you now feel compelled to hoard them.
People are going to absolutely hate me but I collect hermes scarves lol. I dont have a ton but i have access to a shitton of them secondhand for (relatively) cheap through work. I enjoy a lot of the designs and collect them and resell them for waaaaaaaay more money.
My work gives me access to a lot of extremely nice clothing I would never be able to afford otherwise and I take advantage of it.
Extremely controversial for hexbear im sure lol. At least its all secondhand.
Eh If you are getting them second hand because you like the designs and reselling them for cash I don’t think it’s the same victim of consumerism these sneaker heads are.
Like it’s just not the same imo.
You don’t have to hand in your hexbear membership yet lmao
If you’re not hoarding them for “investments” I don’t really care. My main gripe with collectors is that they make things more expensive for everyone by reselling at absurd values
Well i guess a big difference with the streetwear/sneaker reselling is that its on contemporary releases.
A lot of these scarves i have are 20-40 years old. Their release window is well up and whats out there is out there. Prices can still get pretty astronomical based on how limited/rare it is, and if its a popular scarf artist, and ehat condition it is. Which doesnt really make it took different than normal antique sales.
You probably know all of the reasons that I’m not a fan of resellers, but like fancy brand name scarves are not so much a necessity for poor folks as jeans and shirts and shoes. Although thrift stores aren’t really thrift stores anymore and more like boutiques so I guess the point is moot. sighs
I just looked em up and some of those hermes scarves are really cool! I love Pashmina ones, they are so cozy for fall
I had a really sick pashmina I would wear to shows in winter and its been lost to time sadly. Very comfy! Also kept me warm during some film stuff lol
Hermes has thousands of designs they have done and while a ton are comically bourgious scenes (I actually find it very funny) some are out of control sick. Highly recommend “Dies et Hore” and “Ceres” by Francoise Faconnet, and “Mysterious Rider” for a modern one.
They are extremely nice and light and are easy to wear anytime and i get compliments all the time. Its fun albeit expensive hobby. And i have never once set foot in an actual Hermes store lmao.
Nah, get that bag. Rather a comrade enjoy it than that surplus value just get horded
Seems fine to me honestly
i feel bad for ppl having consumption as an hobby. what a life.
haha… yea… i feel sad for them also…
i love my sneakerhead friends who get irate with me whenever I open their closet and ask them if they’ve ever worn half of the shit they have sitting in the original boxes.
“yeah i’ve worn them once or twice” only once or twice?? they were $350 why not wear them tonight to the bar
“ABC don’t fucking start you know they’ll get ruined by someone dropping a cocktail on them and I’ll wind up losing my fucking mind”
Know what happens if somebody drops a drink on my boots? I spray them off next time im by a hose because they’re actually meant to be functional footwear.
Counterfeits are so good these days that you can post them on r/sneakers and they’ll all compliment it or say it’s legit. Then as soon as you reveal it’s fake or they find out you post in fashionreps they’ll perma ban you lol. There’s no reason to buy “real” sneakers when 80% of the time the fake ones are made right next door and sold for 10% of the price
IIRC the rep sneakers sub is pretty big. There’s also a similar sub for fake watches that’s pretty active.
Yeah repsneakers and fashionreps. Reptime is a kinda funny sub though because it’s a bunch of seemingly rich guys buying fake stuff. I mean I would definitely do that if I were rich, but it’s just odd seeing people whose lifestyle is appropriate enough to convince people they own a $20,000 watch
Huh I was thinking of chinatime. Didn’t know about reptime, but yeah that’s a good point.
SNEAKERHEADS
👟 👟
Silly Data, they go on your feet!
Wait until you hear what audio enthusiasts call themselves
I just want shoes that don’t fall apart if I walk a lot in them. It seems like most of the popular brands have garbage quality, they start falling apart after just a few months of regular use.
Last pair of Etnies I bought was like 7 years ago and managed to hold up to 4 of those 7 years being used as “work shoes” while I was working a receiving dock at a grocery store for 4 of my 8 hours a day.
The soles are starting to wear a bit but the stitching is still solid and the uppers haven’t cracked/split/torn. Its going to be a sad day when I finally need to buy a new pair but for the 75$ US that I spent they have been the most amazingly resilient sneakers I’ve ever worn.
