TL;DR: What state or city of your country gets the most satirical love / bullied?

I previously posted a question regarding the Alabama of other countries (apologies to those that did not enjoyed it). However, while reading the comments I discovered that Acre in Brazil doesn’t exist and if it does it is filled with 🦕.

I immediately thought of Tlaxcala (Mexico), which is a hoax, “Tlaxcala son las papás” (parents are Tlaxcala). This is very likely related to the fact that is the smallest state by a far margin, you even need a 🔎 to find it.

So…, I wanted to know what state or city of your country gets the most satirical love / bullied?

Came here to say this. Bielefeld is obviously a government psy-op. It’s not a real city, much like the fake cities they used in the US for bomb tests.

Brazil has a lot of those. One of my favorites is the city of Itu, where supposedly everything is giant sized. Where a toilet is the size a pool and a snack is a full family barbecue.

It comes from a comedy show from the 60s where a character exaggerated everything from his hometown, but it caused the city to become famous for it and they even built some giant stuff there to attract tourists.

    I’d say Delaware.

They were the first state to sign the Constitution (barely, Pennsylvania was only a week later) and they’ve been kinda coasting on that ever since. The state only has about a million people total, whereas Philadelphia right next door has 1.5m just in the city proper. I-95, one of the busiest highways in America, cuts across the top and you can go across the state that way in 1/2 an hour. We usually have to remind ourselves that Wilmington exists when we think of the Northeast Corridor.

And yet, due to a ton of unique state laws to make DE business friendly, this tiny-ass mostly-forgotten state is the corporate home of over 1.4 million corporations, including 2/3 of Fortune 500 companies. And the state has no sales tax, so most people only go there to buy booze and TVs.

Here in the Netherlands I hear quite often that the province of Drenthe doesn’t exist. As someone who lives quite close to its presumed location I can neither confirm nor deny that it exists.

Drenthe is the liminal space through which the A28 and a railway line connect Groningen to the rest of the country.

I was about to add the A7 to that list, but that one manages to avoid Drenthe. Apparently at exit 34a, the south end of the right of way is the provincial border, with the southern parallel road in Drenthe, and everything else in Groningen.

Florida. Because all arrest records and mugshots are pretty much immediately available to the public they get the most stories of dumb criminals in the media

I’ve heard of Ohio. There’s nothing remarkable (or even mentionable) about it. If it ceased to exist, nobody would notice until they had to drive from Indiana to Pennsylvania, and remembered a much more pleasant trip. They wouldn’t remember why it was more pleasant, just that it was.
