For me I would hold the social media companies more to account when it comes to hate speech and harassment online and force social media companies to do more to stop online harassment and hate speech.

I rather deal with a horrible piece of shit person than have some one tell me I can’t make my own choices. I don’t need a babysitter.

How is saying “if you’re a jerk, you aren’t wanted here” telling you you can’t make your own choices?

Or is it because your choice wouldn’t be wanted?

If you see a closed room full of rabid dogs eating shit, you shouldn’t go in there no matter how cozy the chair looks. If you decide to go in anyways, you have no reason to complain about the dogs.

But the room wasn’t always rabid dogs.

Like… without moderation everything turns into that.

The rabid dogs won’t stop, it’s better if they all stay where they can keep each other amused and not shit up another room.

Moderation needs a perfect touch. Too much and you get banned for going against the hive mind or offending an advertiser and no genuine discussion can occur. The mods will come for your ideas too.
Too little and you get spam and lathe accident compilations where genuine discussion is chased out.
You are the only one that decides if you are in the right space. Big bonus if you got tools to like blocking to create the environment you want.

The internet is a big place, you find a spot your cozy and stick around until it’s not cozy. Your never going to get along with everyone and some will hate you for no good reason. It’s up to you where you go.

I will gladly read some horrible opinion I disagree with. I don’t need someone stranger telling me I can’t read mean words. I can make my own decisions on my interpenetration. If I get pissed or harassed, I can decide leave.

Mods are janitors, not cops. You can respect the guy cleaning the toilet. You should be afraid of the guy watching you take a dump.
