I use a third party app on my phone, and old.reddit on the desktop. Never could get used to ‘new’ and don’t like how the screen real estate is on it. Ad block for the home network AND Ublock Origin on mobile and desktop are a must have for me.
DNS server ad blocking. I use technitium DNS server for devices on my network. Set up a virtual machine with that or another ad block DNS server like pihole on it, and then point your clients to it. This way it looks up where to find ‘adserver.com’ (for example) and gets a response of ‘NOWHERE’. Can’t go to the ad store to show you ads.

Same for me except I don’t have network-wide Adblock
How do you use adblock for the home network?
Check out pihole or AdGuard Home. They serve as DNS server for your home network and can filter unwanted connections.
Also, https://my.nextdns.io
Also dnsforge.de (though it leaves no room for customization)
