Hey all, I think it’s unfair for me to be the only moderator (plus the admins!).
I was trying to find some good candidates and I certainly found many, but I think it’s much more fair to open the floor for nominations.
Some groundrules so this goes smoothly:
This is somewhat of a popularity contest, although note I do not promise the most popular candidates will be the ones selected.
This post will be updated when mods are appointed with the logic behind appointment.
@mekhos@lemmy.ml has been appointed. This is because
A loosely moderated place to ask open ended questions
If your post is

Convincing points! VOTE MEKHOS
U is f@get so you would be good mod
you have my support 👍
Is center left allowed here? I’m pretty left leaning but I feel below average here.
Well if not being “left enough” is an issue/flaw I’d retract my nomination.
I would hope my own politics is fairly insignificant (as long as its not RW) and more important is cleaning up spam, keeping threads on topic, and facilitating positive, healthy community.
Yeah I’m certainly trying to abstain from bringing politics into moderation. Do you agree to a reasonable (human rights are not political, don’t offend people, no conspiracies) extent?
Could i be mod … considering i can go for months without visiting lemmy ?
Edit : @Gabe@lemmy.ml moderator of asklemmy, account’s is (test) “dead”.

@pojntfx@lemmy.ml Anarchism
@dharmatech@lemmy.ml PowerShell
@mlsuyt@lemmy.ml cryptocurrency

…!green@lemmy.ml 's 2of3 mods : @theloneforager@lemmy.ml & @Chloe@lemmy.ml
Admin. see this ?
@dessalines@lemmy.ml
If someone wants their communities, they can do a request on !community_requests@lemmy.ml
Are moderators able to resign ?
Should they be revoked after 1 year of inactivity ?
The top mod can transfer a community to anyone they want, but there’s not a way to resign currently unless another mod removes you.
Clean(?) “way to resign” at worst :
“another mod (who) removes you” will be a sockpuppet-mod of the moderator wanting to resign. Credentials of the sockpuppet would be sent to another moderator and admin. Lastly, sockpuppet account would be closed after a pre-established 2 months.
Good digging! I wonder if its a good to remove or tag dead accounts like @Joe(archived)@lemmy.ml because you don’t really want users sending messages off to dead accounts and waiting for a reply that never comes.
i agree and also :
Opinion : moderators status should be revoked after 1 year of inactivity !
